JDM180 7 Posted January 29, 2015 Hi Guys , Considering swapping the date wheel on one of my ETA watches with another better aligned one ( from exact same type of movement ) but all the posts I have found showing how to do it have expired picture and video links. Ive done a few 21J swaps so hoping its not going to give me to many grey hairs on an eta with a bit of help from here

SSTEEL 0 Posted January 30, 2015 Removing and fitting a standard date wheel on an ETA 28XX series of movements is very easy when you know how, you don't even need to remove any screws.

No need to remove the dw spring nor that little keeper screwed to the plate over the dw spring?? Nope, all you need is a modified old oiler for pulling back the spring. I have a video somewhere, I will see if I can find it. Can't find the video now, so will shoot another one, and post it here.

JSJ 0 Posted January 30, 2015 Micky thanks very much for taking that trouble, I've never done it like that. Much easier than removing the screws.
Irishcain 0 Posted January 30, 2015 Well done, that! I've never tried that before, but I think I'll give it a go next time.
SSTEEL 0 Posted January 30, 2015 Please be careful, this is something I have done hundreds of times now, so please be careful, as you can easily damage the teeth of the date wheel if you apply too much pressure on the prising it out. Hopefully my video shows just how gentle you have to be.
