dave47 6,584 Posted February 26, 2015 Wednesday is HUMPDAY, and with that in mind, allow me to present the "Alpha" and the "Omega" of my pre-repwatch forum days back in the Fall of '09. First is the "Alpha," my very first rep watch -- Rolex 16613 Sub purchased from AFINELUXURYTIME based in New York City for $220, excluding shipping. I had absolutely no knowledge of reps and figured that perhaps it was worth the asking price (it isn't.) Here's where I slowly began an education of scammers: (1). You couldn't open the caseback to check the movement because doing so would activate the "hidden alarm" that showed the caseback had been opened! (2). You can always ask the Fed Ex driver to open the package to view the watch before paying for it. (3). In my ignorance, when I called the site to thank them for the "nice" rep, no one would talk to me. (4). A "rep watch guide site" praised AFLT for their newest pictures and offerings; My review of the rep site showed no such changes. The "Omega" watch is the 16610 Sub that was destined to become a "Shark" after I added a new bezel. This one went for $250 excluding shipping; when it arrived, it was (1) the wrong watch and (2) was a damaged POS (Piece of Shit). Countless, fruitless calls to the NYC dealer got no where, along with MANY letters to their address; threats to turn them over to the New York Better Business Bureau (which I did do) evoked no response from A GLOBAL REPLICA.com. My demands were simple: please send me a better watch and I'll return the old one. Nothing. Nada. Luckily for me, a family friend who was a jeweler and employed a watch smith was able to have the watch salvaged and useable (although I still can't wind the watch). I was enraged and frustrated by all this -- and this is what led me to discovering RWI, who welcomed me with open arms and offered me encouragement. In hind sight, neither watch is worth the payments I made, but I was a complete ignorant noob; now, I know better. I've joined several other rep forums since then and have learned A LOT. This is why RWI and the other forums are so valuable. Now, enough of this PhD dissertation. Here are some pics of said watches. Thanks for being patient. dave: VERY FIRST ROLEX REPLICA: SALVAGED POS:
