docbp87 0 Posted March 3, 2015 Terrible, quick shot taken in a poorly lit room... Gen Girard-Perregaux SeaHawk. This was my father's second watch he ever owned. His father bought it new for him when they were on a trip somewhere showing one of my grandfather's cars (he collected and restored vintage Jaguars). It was a replacement for his first wristwatch, an Omega that he remembers very little about and does not have anymore. It has a 14K yellow gold case, beautiful silver dial with a sunburst type texture that this crap photo doesn't pick up, black lizard strap, and a hand wound movement. It still runs like a champ, but has a small crack in the crystal (probably plexi actually?) near the 6 o'clock marker. It is amazing to me how thin the case is. The glass is actually taller than the case is thick, which compared to the thickness of the Seiko SKX009 I've been wearing a lot lately is baffling. Honestly I don't know how old it is, 1960's if he had to guess. He is letting me wear it for a few days, after looking at his small watch collection last night and seeing how much I loved it. One day it, along with a handful of other beautiful vintage pieces like this will be mine for good, but for now it is just on loan from Pops. Wish I knew more about it (specific model, year etc.), and honestly am not sure of the best way to go about learning more about it, short of trying to get in touch with GP (which seems like a long shot to actually get a response from them).
