boci 22 Posted March 20, 2015 I recently acquired this watch and I am in love. It is a beauty! I ordered some new 'shoes' to further enhance it. So much mystery and history makes this watch so much more than a simple time keeping device. My favorite for sure and one of a kind. Some specifications; -Brand new, swiss 6497 -Silix's 3646 case. High mirror polish. -Nightwatch's Engraved Brevettato Bezel and Super Clear Plexi -Silix super flat case-back -RP Dial Painted, Finished, and Aged by Rolf -Hands Aged By Rolf -Vintage Cracked Lume Indices by Rolf Few history notes, Nobody knows for certain how the Kampfschwimmer's got ahold of the Panerai watches, but it is believed the they somehow extracted them from the Italian Royal Navy in 1944. Any Panerai fan should read this; http://rolexblog.blo...-rolex.html?m=1 Few more pictures;
tonyh7 244 Posted March 20, 2015 The Panerai design really has stood the test of time. I must say I prefer the vintage look - don't think the ones with chrono dials and gmt hands do it for me. Personally I like the 448 which is close to a real Kampfschwimer watch. The history kind of gives me goosebumps too, as my dad served in the North sea during the war and had a few uncomfortable encounters with the German Navy.
