UN Maxi Marine Diver - rep vs gen

Recommended Posts

romford-boy

So the other day I bought a replica UN blue surf, to go alongside my real Maxi Marine Diver.

Below are some iPhone photos and a brief comparison.

That comparison is fantastic, thank you. Always wondered how my UN would stack up against gen... not bad at all! will be buying another from Toro

That being said, the gen dial on that silver pimple is amazing.

Case

The case appears to be identical on both. The replica is spot on. The case backs are not comparable as a genuine Maxi Marine has a solid case whilst the replica has a display. The replicas movement is on of the best decorated cheap movements I have seen.

Bezel

The replica is lacking a bit of detail but is 90% there. The rotation of the bezel feels pretty nice - until you then try the genuine. It's miles off. But that's feel not looks.

Crystal

Real UNs have the best crystal in the business. Simply no reflection at all. The replica can't get close, even with the suggestion of an AR coating. But then a genuine Rolex won't get close to a UN so it's not a big issue.

Bracelet

I can't compare these for obvious reasons, but the replica feels spot on.

Movement

The replica does everything the genuine does. I've not tested time keeping on either, but the power reserve display works well. It does feel a bit light weight to hand wind in comparison.

(Sorry for the delay on text, doing it on the phone)
