GenTLe 1,509 Posted February 22, 2016 So after kennycoder posted this thread here: http://www.rwg.bz/bo...howtopic=113529 I thought that one problem has been solved: now we know that the SWF Portuguese v5 have the new sec @6 7750 with good jeweled transfer gears. But another problem arise: HOW to know if the others are using the same one? So I wrote @Torobravo (thanks to him!!!) asking about this, and he told me that ZF is using a new one too... Starting (apparently) from this one: http://www.toro888.c...product_id=1851 and probably this too: http://www.toro888.c...product_id=1904 Here the pictures. Let's check it together: For comparison this is the old crappy one (tasken from JSJ thread http://www.rwg.bz/bo...showtopic=69834 ): And this the SWF one from kennycoder thread:
GenTLe 1,509 Posted February 22, 2016 1st thing I notice is that both the ZF and the SWF take the movement of the sec @6 from a gear on the left: While the old crappy takes the movement from the top right: Also they both (ZF and SWF) have the central part of the sec @6 pinion gear which looks made in 2 different metals (brass in the middle and some sort of steel in the outer part), while the old crappy has a full brass one. This thing looks promising. JSJ, kennycoder, you that have put your hands in them, do you nothing something else?

dfq23 131 Posted February 23, 2016 Just ordered a 3878 so this gives me slightly more confidence!
ShovelnTC 31 Posted February 23, 2016 I really hope that this may be a solid option as there are so many watches that I just won't order as they only come with the 7750 option or have faux seconds at 6 and I just don't like anything non-funtional on my watches. Stuvetjee 17 Posted February 23, 2016 Would it be? Could it be? Will it be? Finally a more reliable timebomb? :o

jimbo206hol 32 Posted February 23, 2016 Anyone know if these movements are able to be purchased sans watch? Be nice to replace the movement in my otherwise very nice RG Portuguese! (stops every few minutes currently...)
Cdevil 0 Posted February 23, 2016 GET THAT ON A TONA NOW!!!!!! Or is that the "new and improved" 29j?
Left Coast Guy 24 Posted February 24, 2016 This has to be among the more exciting rep advances in the last couple of years. Appreciate the background work Gentle

Ishmael 92 Posted April 2, 2016 GET THAT ON A TONA NOW!!!!!! Or is that the "new and improved" 29j? Yep - won't touch the modern Daytonas with a 10 foot pole. Would love to see this setup in the new Baselworld Daytonas.
montblancrep 0 Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) this doesn't quite confirm the question? Do new zf 3714 come with the extra 3 jewels or not? Will they be more reliable? Edited April 28, 2016 by montblancrep

GenTLe 1,509 Posted April 28, 2016 this doesn't quite confirm the question? Do new zf 3714 come with the extra 3 jewels or not? Will they be more reliable? Yes. Anyway for the classic Portuguese chrono SWF is better than ZF.

JSJ 0 Posted May 24, 2016 GenTLe sorry I missed this thread earlier. I now have a 3714 and a 3878, both with secs@6 which don't stutter at all. These must have the new movement. Both came from M2M. I'll investigate a bit more and if there is any new info I'll post.

GenTLe 1,509 Posted August 13, 2016 Ok so, a friend of mine wanted to get one of these new ceramic IWC Miramar chrono sec@6, so I ordered it (the KW/V6F version) for him and today I had some time to give it a look, regulate it and check on the timegrapher its status. First, how it looks: It was quite clean, and the only part that I didn't like was the fine regulator of the balance that was quite useless: working on the fine lever it was lifting the regulation arm, instead of make it to rotate: Apart from this it seems more than fine. At testing stage I can say that... Well, I'm impressed: after like 10/15 full rotation of the crown to wind it, I have put it on the timegrapher and it was like 0.8ms out of beat synch and running +20s/d fast, but still it was showing an amazing stable line and and amplitude >300° After a bit of regulation, this is the result (and 10 secs before the shot it was at 330° amplitude). And the best part is that it's even stable in all the position, with just like +2s/d as max positional error... Really impressed this time. TO add: the movement was well fixed in the case with the common screws and tabs, no risk to have them floating around.
