Corv99 2 Posted October 20, 2012 HI all just wondering if any owners can share how this baby is to live with........ it is indeed a beauty to behold! preference towards black and gold on this for persnal preference.. but haven't decided still to get one, or indeed the colour Hows the strap on them? do they need replacing? example of watch Presume they all come from the same factory? also on the size, the 38mm puts me off, as I do personally prefer bigger.... just got a 42mm breit which actually I do like.. so sure design plays a part....how ever 38mm may be a push... I really would love to see one close up.. as it is an expensive piece this.. and quite rare to see them on M2M's! I have seen posts on this saying its 44 or even 45mm!! if you happen to have say a 44mm Pam , and side by side wristy would be awesome any general photo's get em up anyway!! thanks.. mspangl 0 Posted October 20, 2012 (edited) This watch needs intensive care and honestly the rep croc strap is SHIT ! I wanted to buy one of these a while ago but if the movement breaks you can't service it or it is so expensive that a newer rep makes more sense Wiz used to have one.. Aswell as Ska Edited October 20, 2012 by mspangl

BigDee62 0 Posted October 20, 2012 AESTHETICS: Those are two different watches with different movements. I have the second one, but in pearl on RG. The one in your first pic (the black on SS) looks much nicer to me, and it's also slightly less expensive. I'm definitely going to be swapping out for the black on SS. STRAP: It's undeniably craptastic and must be replaced FRAGILITY AND REPAIRS: Not sure if it's fragile or not, but for whatever reason, I had to take mine in for a repair not long after I got it. It wasn't expensive, though - around $45 IIRC, and that was by a guy who wasn't too keen to be working on a rep. I wear it occasionally and haven't had any problems since that repair (a few months ago now). Mine was posted here (since repaired). I think it looks better in person, but as I say, I'm favoring the black on SS. http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=31750&hl=&fromsearch=
BigDee62 0 Posted October 20, 2012 Some additional info ... I also have Breguet and Parmigiani Fleurier tourbillons, both with white faces on SS, and I think both of them are nicer than my JLC. The Breguet was also a good bit cheaper. Just food for thought there. I might change my opinion, though, once I get the JLC with black face on SS.
Corv99 2 Posted October 20, 2012 thanks Bigdee the first picture is the one really I'm after.... either black face and SS or Black face and RG

Corv99 2 Posted October 20, 2012 First watch is with Tianjin tourbillon, second one - with Shanghai tourbillon. thanks Luth first one is the favourite for me...... any experience of the movement? have you got one of these?
BigDee62 0 Posted October 20, 2012 Also looking forward to Luth's feedback here, seems to know more than most about these tourbillon movements. In person, the Tianjin looks a lot nicer to me, but I think it's also the less expensive movement (well, based on the price of the watches I've seen, but that might not be an accurate indicator). If quality is about the same, then the Tianjin should be a no-brainer.

OK ....... what is your opinion of the first one.... is it pretty reliable or prone to issues? I haven't heard of many issues with the high-beat Hangzhou tourbillon, and they seem to be the most commonly found movements in the tourby reps now. The other, on the other hand... the Liaoning, as inviting as its affordability may be... you'd be wise to stay away from purchasing. I've read too many horror stories online of that movement breaking down not long after they've arrived to the customer.
