onzenuub 363 Posted March 5, 2010 Never seen a review of this watch, is is a few years old, still thought it's a nice watch and needed a review, therefor: Review Chopard Mille Miglia GMT Chrono The legendary Mille Miglia car race has been held annually from 1927 to 1957 and was revived in 1977, taking its competitors over a distance of 1000 miles through magnificent Italian countryside from Brescia to Rome and back again. Passionate about vintage cars, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele has been playing an active part in the race since 1988, when Chopard supported this event as a main sponsor and official timekeeper for the first time. In his words: “Lovers of fine automobiles are said to have a weakness for precious timekeepers and vice versa. In both domains, extreme precision and sporting elegance play an important roleâ€. The Mille Miglia has the reputation of being the “the most beautiful road race in the world. Every May, Brescia becomes the meeting place for the rich, famous and passionate as they prepare to do battle over 1,000 miles (1.600 km) of Italian roads. In Brescia is the Mille Miglia museum. The gen comes in different dial colors and cases. The Chopard Mille Miglia GMT Chrono was one of the watches that attracted me from the first time. It is simply one of the most stunning reps out there. I bought the black dial version. Overall feeling The overall feeling is good. It really feels solid and genuine. The AR isn’t that good. I wanted to have the AR done by Jacub, only he couldn’t do it because he discovered that it was actually a 2 layered type, with saphire on the outside and mineral crystal on the inside, with the cyclops imbedded in the mineral crystal, he called it a sandwich crystal. It is a big watch, 42,5 mm like the gen. Also the thickness of 14,9 mm is like the gen. The dial The black dial is one on one with the gen. Some markers, like the 35 one is to close to the 35, you have to look real careful to see this. The lume seems to last for ages. The inner bezel says Tachometer, on the gen Tachymeter. However, the gen white dial and redgold version also have Tachometer. The datefont One of the best things I noticed regarding this watch, is the date font. It seems to be excactly like the ETA date font in every respect, it is also perfectly centered on every date. The gen is on the left, the rep on the right. The hands. The hour and minute hands are chromed, on the gen they look frosted. The other hands, chronos and GMT are white like the gen. The chronograph function has a 60-min counter at 9 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock. The watch also has a second time zone indication thanks to an adjustable 24-hour hand refering to a scale on the watch bezel. The crystal As told before the watch has a sandwich crystal with some AR. The crystal has the inverted cyclops like on the gen. The bezel. The bezel is aligned properly. The numbers are written a little to big, they almost touch the crystal. On the gen there is some space between them. The font is oke. The case It is difficult to say something about the case because I cannot compare the case to the gen. It looks great. The caseback The watch has a see through case back, like the gen. It gives you a view on the beautiful movement. The engravings on the back look sharp. Again the gen on the left, the rep on the right. The crown The engraving doesn’t look as crisp as the gen, for me it is just perfect, like the pushers are as well. The gen is on the left, the rep on the right. The bracelet The stainless steel bracelet is very well made and the adjustment screws are very solid steel and easy to remove. The overall fit and finish is fantastic. It is comfortable on the wrist aswell. The clasp works good and feels well made. The engravings on the clasp are looking good. Overall The Chopard Mille Miglia GMT Chrono has some minor flaws but is overall a great watch. The flaws are not that big. The overall fit and finish of the watch is fantastic. It is comfortable on the wrist as well. All the chronograph functions of the watch work and reset well, the watch has kept perfect time. The GMT hand works as it should do. P_Diddy 0 Posted July 22, 2010 why does the chrono come with correct crown engraving yet the non chrono shows mirror image of " 1000 Miglia" you would think the factory be able to put the correct crown on non chrono as well :blue-screen-of-death:
