BP sub-C movement teardown pictorial (pic heavy)

Recommended Posts

discostu

There has been some discussing over the movement found in the BP sub which Josh refers to as a "new breed 2813".

Looking at the pictures posted it displays a lot of similarities with the 2824 clones.

Mine was delivered today and I just couldn't resist tearing it apart to see what it really is (a cleaning & lube job is usually a good idea anyway).

It seems that the going train and auto-module is very similar, however the keyless and date module is not the same.

Anyway, i snapped some pictures if anyone is interested.

I only had my phone cam available so they're not that good, but here they are nonetheless.

Some of the best phone pictures I have seen taken! Nice job. How smooth a sweep does this movement produce? I know it's high beat 21J 28.8k right?

I'd say the sweep is quite smooth, much better than my DG4813 which is also 28,8k but doesn't have "direct drive" seconds.

I can post a video when it's back together (hopefully).

Fun thread. Thanks so much for posting this. Any intention of posting a detailed walkthrough of the cleaning/oiling procedure?

Thanks for the tear down, it certainly answers some unanswered questions many of us had on this new breed movement.

Thats the first time I have seen a date wheel like that too.

Great thread. I have one of those coming. Do you think I could sub the movement with an eta (would it fit)? Is it even worth it to do that?
