Stuvetjee 17 Posted November 6, 2013 Well.. I decided to upgrade my watchbox with some warm LED's . Bought the parts at a local shop, and started a simple DIY. Parts: - 2x AA battery - Super glue - LED string with switch - Tape Firstly i started by measuring the inside of the box, for the length of the led strip. Then simply tape the leds, and glued the strip to the box. After that i glued the switch too. Aaand DONE! Really happy with the end result.

Indigo38 0 Posted November 6, 2013 in my experience with LED's, if you mount them in that orientation it really shows the dust/smudges/etc on the glass cover ive found the best way of orientating the led's is straight towards the object but this may not work with this box anyway, nice work
Jacksongo 15 Posted November 6, 2013 but my concern is the LED bulbs getting too hot and starting to burn any of the materials... maybe? be careful, you dont want your watches to burn down!

kime 0 Posted November 7, 2013 I always wonder why such boxes need "watches" written on them :-) I guess without the great light addition there was always a chance of thinking there were shoes inside. ;-)

seclark007 11 Posted November 7, 2013 but my concern is the LED bulbs getting too hot and starting to burn any of the materials... maybe? be careful, you dont want your watches to burn down! For the record, LEDs radiate very little Infra red (IR) heat that can cause damage to sensitive objects or fabrics. Wasted energy is dispersed as heat through the base of the LED. It's the larger, specialty lights with multiple or specialty LED's that end up generating potentially damaging heat. The same idea of LED Christmas lights being safer as they generate little to no heat. No threat with these little guys
