Built a watch box - May have got a bit carried away

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to share.

I was getting sick of watches and watch boxes causing clutter so I decided to make a watch box over the Christmas break and get everything tidied up.

It was going to be a simple affair, but you know how these things go.

Anyway it is all done now so I thought I would let you see my handy work. It is not perfect, but I am quite happy with it, and it also has some 'growing room'.

enjoy

Extra drawer for rings/cufflinks etc:

I am an IT geek, not a carpenter, so I am really very happy with how this turned out, and I think it is quite a handsome piece of furniture.

(and my watches love it - now just fighting over who gets the penthouse!) ;)

Wow, that looks awesome. You have some serious skills "Mr. IT guy"... that really puts my brilliant cigar box idea to shame.

There's no way I would have gotten away with spending my break building that, not when there is sooooo much to repair around the house!

Nice work.

That´s an awesome piece of wood You crafted there. Very well done, beautiful - and super-practical. And You´ve got quite a collection too, they for sure found a good home. And - high quality carpenter is Your second nature. Congrats mate

Thanks Guys,

It is the first time I have tried inlay, and it can out quite well.

Filling the drawers is the easy part.

The missus did raise an eyebrow at the two empty drawers. Said I now have to build something for her shoes. :)

Holy shit.

I said that out loud, btw, when I opened the thread and saw the pic.

Very awesome for not being a carpenter, and a little over the top maybe  Awesome, nonetheless, great work, brother :D

Thats turned out beautifully my friend, well done. The only thing I would do to complete it now would be to varnish the sides of the drawers ;)

I have to say like others here I laughed when you said you'd gone overboard. However I did compensate SLIGHTLY..... When I saw the first picture I realised I greatly underestimated the extent of your exaggeration :)

Superb piece of homemade furniture... Really puts the shelf I put up over Christmas to shame :giggle:

Now get filling it... I can't wait for the second of the pair you make!
