maxwas 0 Posted January 11, 2014 Hi All, Since coming onto the forum, I have discovered that my grail watch is the Tudor Black Bay. I was browsing around fleabay the other day and happened to notice someone selling red inserts for SKX's for 6 quid. So I thought to myself that this would be a good wee opportunity to breathe a bit of life into my old 009 by changing the insert to a red one whilst getting a touch of Black Bayness on the go. Here's what happened... 1. The good old SKX009, it's about 10 yrs old. I added the president strap about 3 years ago: 2. Insert a strong sharp blade under 7 and give it a good prise, the bezel will pop off. As you can see, there's so much gunk under there, man I think there was even pubes and stuff in there... 3. There's a metal clip that controls the bezel, this just lifts out... 4. I've taken a soft brush to the watch and underneath the bezel to give it clean. Beware, underneath the bezel there is a rubber gasket, watch when cleaning. Here's the new insert... 5. Turn the bezel upside down. There is a small gap where you are able to insert a small flathead, gently push the insert away from the bezel, it will give as it's only glued on. Then turn the bezel right way up and insert the flathead into the gap you have created then gently run it around the bezel to free the insert. 6. Here you can see the glue, it is still pretty sticky, so I left it. I added a couple of dots of PVA using a cocktail stick, just to be sure it will hold the new insert - I don't wanna be grooving down the street and then my insert pops out. 7. Here's the watch cleaned up, clip back in and ready for the bezel... 8. I've just sat the bezel on the watch, then I've turned upside down onto my paper pad and pressed hard - it will click back into place. 9. So there you go. Even to a total noob like me, this job was not that difficult. For the time being, this is the closest I'm getting to a Black Bay, so I'm happy :-) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
