Dr_Rolex 3 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) GEN Brown Alligator Strap with deployment...... BTW is it normal for the strap to feel super stiff and super difficult to adjust the strap?? I got the strap out of the buckle once and it was a pain ,,,,easier way? UPDATE: order pam from KW a week ago waiting for them to get back from CNY to send payment but at least the strap is here :P PICS----> Edited February 7, 2014 by BUymeaROLEX
grb 1 Posted February 7, 2014 What country did you purchase this from? How much did you pay? From my experience the packaging doesn't look correct, you would normally have a part no. on the bag, also this isn't the correct shade for Brown (Brown is much darker). If this stands a chance of being proper it's Gold, looks too shiny. The strap shouldn't be stiff but you may have difficulty extracting the pins from the holes. It may be alligator but I would be surprised if it's a genuine Panerai. Sorry
baxter 6 Posted February 7, 2014 Agree with grb that's definitely gold and it should be supersoft. To get the strap out of the buckle try popping the pin behind the buckle instead of dragging the strap through ( again if it's gen you shouldnt have any trouble adjusting it )
Cheesemonger 0 Posted February 7, 2014 Did you get this one from eBay? There is a seller there that is stating gen straps, but some of the guys at RWI have found they are fakes straps.
baxter 6 Posted February 7, 2014 Here is a brown gen croc and the bag is slightly different in markings/ barcodes - your colour is definitely gold.

Also, if you look at the gen packaging from Baxter's post, the numeral 2 font is different on the rep packaging. Take a look at the "02342" numeral line and the font looks different to me vs. the gen packaging numeral line of "78502".

What country did you purchase this from? How much did you pay? From my experience the packaging doesn't look correct, you would normally have a part no. on the bag, also this isn't the correct shade for Brown (Brown is much darker). Frankt8242 1 Posted February 8, 2014 Why would you spend the price of a couple of semi decent reps to buy a gen strap...???
Dr_Rolex 3 Posted February 8, 2014 Why would you spend the price of a couple of semi decent reps to buy a gen strap...??? well its kind of the same reason of how a tc sub deserves a gen bezel insert, they just go together i guess
grb 1 Posted February 8, 2014 If you visit risti http://www.paneristi.com these will generally be genuine, sometimes not but mostly OK, look for the difference in the bag if there is one (as posted by Baxter earlier). You need to look for much finer quality scales on the leather yours while it is difficult to verbalise looked like as also mentioned calf imprinted with a crocodile grain. (again look at the fine scales on baxter's brown strap) or the one below. You can find a decent used strap for as little as $160-200 if you were in the UK at an AD you would have to spend £240. There are other very good quality Panerai straps at less than half the price Orloff($110) and Inspire($130) to name two Brown Gen Orloff Inspire
grb 1 Posted February 8, 2014 And be careful with genuine deployant buckles, they sell replicas on risti through ignorance or on purpose, expect to pay $250, avoid the ones with no printing on the inside of the toothed clasp, aim to get the old fashioned buckle as they weren't replicated

And IMNSFHO, NEVER buy anything labeled Rolex, Omega, Cartier, or Panerai....Those brands are the worst scammer targets... Shop there at your own risk, since you can no longer rely upon management there to always "make things right", like they used to... :help3: :help3:
Dr_Rolex 3 Posted February 10, 2014 amen brother, wish this wasnt the case, i would really like a gen gator strap for when my pam arrives from KW, so hard to find..AD told me gen gator strap plus deployment clasp would be about $900 or a little less lol i told him depending on how much i get back from taxes we'll talk
deju 1,889 Posted February 10, 2014 I've been lucky buying straps from ebay. For the Gen OP strap I bought I got from Switzerland. You can Tell it's fake just by the bag. There should be an MX****** number in the blue box (&/or) the MX***** number with barcode below the UPC to identify the strap as well as the UPC and barcode. Paypal should get this resolved pretty quickly just remember to escalate the claim straight away
