IWC Aquatimer

Recommended Posts

RichardMiami

I picked up the IWC Aquatimer this weekend as CPO from Tourneau. Their CPOs are generally mint, and have a two year full warranty on them, and yes, they negotiate!

This Aquatimer is model 2000, reference IW371928.

Founded in 1868, the IWC brand is probably best known for its groundbreaking complicated luxury watches. IWC creates and assembles its own movements, parts and fine watches, ensuring their uncompromising quality and reliability. The brand IWC continues to push the boundaries of the watchmaking industry, creating technically advanced timepieces with anti-magnetic and anti-gravity movements.

The IWC Aquatimer IW3719-28 Chronograph Automatic Watch is a perfect example of the brand's high quality and bold design. This Swiss watch for men features stainless steel bracelet with a push-button safety release. The stainless steel case has 15mm thickness and a diameter of 42.0 mm. The black dial of this high end watch boasts white minute and hour hands and a chronograph. The IWC logo and date indicator are located next to the 3 o'clock position. The anti reflective sapphire crystal, fixed bezel, and screw-down crown contribute to the excellent quality of the Men's IWC Aquatimer IW3719-28 Chronograph Automatic Watch. This representative of luxury watches has a 44-hour power reserve and water resistance up to 120 meters.

The inner bezel rotates with the pusher at 4 - which also acts as the chrono reset.

The movement is an IWC adaptation of the ETA 7750 - it has been nickel plated and given perlage.

The Aquatimer comes in a wide array of color choices, on steel, rubber etc. Special editions have honored Jacques Cousteau, the Galapagos Islands, the Darwin Society, etc.

I opted for a monochrome version on steel.

Personal thoughts:

The watch has awesome presence on the wrist. The lugs are nicely curved so it fits my 7.5" wrist very comfortably. Even at 42mm, the watch is not especially heavy. My Breitling SuperOcean 44 weighs considerably more (or at least feels that way).

The bracelet is incredible!! The finish is smooth, with NO edges anywhere. The clasp release is perfectly hidden, yet easily accessible - when you squeeze the clasp in the right way it pops right open.

The box is very nice, with a pure white leather interior. A great place to show off the piece.

OK.. enough yada yada.. on to the pics:
