Planet Ocean Skyfall 42mm from Trusty Time (PIC HEAVY)

Ok here we go, so this was my first high end rep purchase from Andrew and TT, you can take look at the feedback I left for Andrew and decide If he is dealer you wish to use, I Know I will be using him again and have already referred two colleagues to him and to this forum.

Anyway why has it take so long for me to put a simple review together, well the answer is simple I AM AN IDIOT! yes after getting the watch I took it upon myself to remove the links, this went well and there were no issues. I then noticed that the clasp wasn't catching perfectly so I thought to myself I I dont really want to send it all they way back to china, and i have just changed the links it cant be that hard to fix can it???

YES it can, springs shot every where and the clasp was totally dead in under 60 seconds! So I contacted Andrew and was able to buy a full replacement bracelet from him and that finally turned up yesterday.

So the moral to this story is if in doubt DONT! or it will end up costing you more money and delay you in being able to wear your new watch.

Now on to the watch, this is not a 1:1 replica as other have mentioned if you want 1:1 buy a genuine watch, It is however an extremely good quality replica, there are some minor visual differences between the look of the genuine and this, so far I have found the following;

  • Second hand tip is orange not red ( why they cant change it Im not sure as the liquid metal comes with a red tip I believe)
  • Dial is not as glossy on the genuine
  • Rear decoration is not as genuine (some new POs are now being sold with a fully decorated internal, have not seen it on this version yet)
  • Date is white not silver
  • Lume is not as bright
  • Text on rear of watch is bolder then gen

The build quality of the watch seems really good, the bracelet is not as flexible as a genuine and the clasp catches more securely, one thing i did notice is that for some reason the link that joins the clasp was not cut centrally so it didn't align perfectly with the clasp and was about 2mm out.

The bezel is not as stiff as a genuine but it has the correct amount of clicks, the method for changing the date mirrors a gen and you have to move around the hours in order for the date to change, the winder is also tight and feels secure and the helium valve works like a gen, and doesn't fall out like on cheap replicas.

When I took the watch into two local jewellers to see if they could repair both were surprised that it was a replica and both commented that they had not seen a replica to this quality, he even got his loupe out to inspect the workings and questioned was I sure as it had all the markings inside. I dont think an AD would be so easily fooled. I also got the watch pressure tested at Timpsons and it failed, not that I would wear the watch swimming but its always nice to know especially as the TDs advertise it as being water proof.

Anyway thats enough of my ramblings and on to the bits your more interested in, some watch porn :) Have taken a few pictures along side my gen PO for comparison and there are one of it on the rubber strap I bought while waiting for the replacement , and if anyone has any questions please ask :)
