_DC_ 218 Posted March 17, 2015 At long last my order from Ernst Westphal arrived yesterday... I was a little disappointed with how long it took (I ordered at the end of February, and they're only in Germany not China) and they sent it to the billing address rather than the shipping address, but everyone makes mistakes I guess! So the pack contained these two straps, both by RIOS, one for my 5107 and more importantly one for my 5227!!! I've had the 5227 for a while now and have hardly worn it because the strap is so horrid... Yuck Bleurgh The gen comes on a deep chocolate brown glossy strap... I wasn't sure if a glossy strap would be for me, but it does look great on the gen, and it's a dress watch after all, so I took a leap of faith and ordered from RIOS Windsor range of gloss alligator straps... Ooh shiny... Compared to the vomit inducing rep strap... And mounted on the watch, it looks beautiful against the rose gold of the case... And on the wrist... Overall I'm very happy. I'll have to get an aftermarket rose gold buckle as the rep Patek buckle is 18mm but the RIOS Windsor only comes with 16mm buckle in 19mm lug width! A small price to pay though! I also switched the flat un-padded strap on my 5107 for a new upholstered one, I much prefer the shape of a padded strap and the way it catches the light. Flat and boring... Old flat RIOS on the right, new upholstered RIOS on the left... And finally the new strap mounted on the watch... So that's now four of my Pateks mounted on these lovely high quality alligator straps from RIOS... Hope you've enjoyed the pics, can't recommend these straps highly enough! Really making it hard to resist the temptation to get on that Patek game myself, even though I don't ever wear gold (but my GOD does that 5227 look righteous in Rose Gold), and I rarely wear suits/dress clothes appropriate for the Calatravas I love so.
