Rep of the Year 2010-- Time To Put in Your Vote

Recommended Posts

ebzen02

So folks the clock is ticking and 2010 is coming to a close. This year saw some neat advances in rep history, specifically with Panerai (I am biased). That being said, let us pic the Rep of the year. My vote goes to:

The new 288K!

I think we need to set some criteria!

Most accurate? (288K, SOH v2, the Sinns, nightwatch's vintage PAMs...)

Most amazing value for money? (Timeshops sub offers, surely? Or Robert's $127 Reseller prices for an ETA Rolex from the Milgauss factory?)

Best quality? (Milgauss factory stuff? The 288K? The SOH v2? A good DSN PAM?)

Personally, I am constantly in awe of my SOHs - I find it hard to believe the gens could look or feel any better :D They're probably the one watch I'd confidently walk into an AD wearing :) I can't stop staring at my blue one and I've had it months! lol

Is the SOH v2 available from dealers? Last time I tried to get one, nobody had any. That would make it tough to give it my vote.

Maybe a dumb question, can you vote even though you don't own the watch that you want to vote for?

tough one. SOHv2 is probably the one for me. New PAM177 looks like it might give it a run for its money though (I'll be buying one soon).

The 288 looks VERY accurate, and pretty good value for $, but I haven't held one in my hand.

I love the reps I've received this year, so my reps of the year are:

IWC 5004 Big pilot (from a rather glorious pack of bastards who I hold dear)

and

And 2009 IWC Aquatimer Cousteau

Maybe a UPO next year ;)

Have to say it would be the battons dial super avenger. Assuming it was this year it was released and not last... Not that it gets worn much at the moment, not enough classy places to wear it to right now.

While I agree that the SOHv2 and the 288 are unbelievable reps, and leaving aside accuracy to the gen for a moment, the best rep package must have been the TimesShop Sub at $45! At this money, nothing looks better.

Could it be the first ever disposable Rolex? ;)

OK guys - please help out a recent addict. Links to where I can buy a SOH v2 please, (or is the chrono on Lays site the one you are all referring to?). I already have a 288 in my sights, (and the 177 looks NICE - hmmmm).

Oh and it would be nice if someone could point me in the direction of Lays $88 DSSD, (as a newbie I'm assuming that's a sea dweller?), as I think I need to take a look at that and can't find it on his site.

Cheers

Tom: it's the non-chrono version you want. Pretty much indistinguishable from the gen - I've had both rep and gen on my wrist on the same day and other than the gen clasp being slightly tighter, I could not tell the difference. One of the most accurate reps ever produced. The problem is that they're scarce. I can only suggest asking Lay and one or two of the other dealers if they can still get hold of them.

This is the watch, though.

Thanks Greg.

God I didn't know how addictive this could be. Bean on toast for the family for the rest of the year I think!

(I need to work out how to use these bloody emoticon thingies!)
