Buckle for Panerai strap TOO big!!!

Recommended Posts

I know most of you consider that a buckle on a Panerai strap should be big.

Most of you think that a big watch should be heavy as well!

I might be different, but I have a small wrist and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I like Ti pam because of their lightweight and I like Thumbnail buckle beacuse of their small size.

Anyway, the other day I bought a really nice Panatime 'loco horse' strap from a member and it came with a huge buckle, it had black stitches so I decided to but it on my 004:

I've been looking for a nice strap for my gen 177, liking the Panatime strap I decided to order the same one from Panatime with white stitches and a PVD thumbnail buckle for the 004 (no Ti buckle available in 24mm).

Installed on the watch:

40mm wide buckle!!!!

To me the buckle was way too big, and I had 2 of those, so...

...after a few hours of grinding and polishing, I ended with that:

Still 30mm wide but looks much thinner.

And now it's nice wearing it:

I still have to find a nice 24mm Thumbnail Titanium buckle, but as for now this will do!

Some of the custom buckles out there are even bigger. The regular ones vary, but 40mm is rather big for a 44mm watch/24mm strap imho. I tend to prefer the more modern 'thumbnail' buckles on 44mm PAMs and leave the Pre-Vs for the 47 and larger models.

Having said that, the GPF Mod Dep buckle on the Rolerai I'm wearing today is 44mm wide!

I still have to find a nice 24mm Thumbnail Titanium buckle, but as for now this will do!

I sourced my titanium thumbnail buckle from Panatime for my 025D PAM. I have the same philosophy on the oversized Pre-V monsters that they are just too flippin' big. The Ti thumbnail from Pana is very high quality and well priced too. :)

MUCH better looking with that smalller buckle. The 40mm beast was way over-the-top.

Only available in 22mm, I would have bought one if Stan had the 24mm.

Big buckles doesn't suit my small wrist too, I found out that DSN's engraved buckles are just the right fit for me. The widest part of the buckle is at 32.7mm, these are ss, maybe he has Ti buckles too?
