luv2flyjrn 6 Posted June 19, 2015 I tried search and got lots of sales results so I thought I would pose the question here. Why bother with PM with intent? I get the idea that you are really excited about the watch but there are other buyers out there with equal excitement. I my mind I don't think a sale is done until either agreed or funds sent. The PM with intent is basically doing the kids game of calling dibs and putting the onus on the seller to hold an item with no real collateral and the real possibility of loosing out of other sales. I could be off on this, it could be because of my sales background, but I just feel it is unfair to sellers to do the PM with intent thing. What do you guys think? FYI - this is going to be a post and run for about an hour until I get to work then I will check replies and respond.
narikaa 129 Posted June 19, 2015 Frankly I think its on a par with the boogey man, fairy stories, etc it only means as much as you allow it to In these days of 'click to pay' simplicity, a few minutes is all that's needed to show sincere 'intent' . . BadPickle 2,748 Posted June 19, 2015 It's to let the op know you have sent them a personal message with an intention of purchasing the item, if the said item is still for sale, they're more likely to be hovering around the sales thread than their in box. Seems the op is another one of those who's been a member for 5 mins and thinks he (or indeed she) can change how the game is played here........if you don't like it...... Piccolo 674 Posted June 19, 2015 Also a way of marking the thread so that you can follow it yourself if the seller doesn't take your offer... makes it easier to find in 'Your Content'

repvar 1 Posted June 19, 2015 I kinda like it, it shows you whether or not someone else had an interest in a watch before you...so you can lower your expectations about actually getting it

elp 26 Posted June 19, 2015 Jokes aside (briefly), sometimes you PM to ask for extra pics, clarifications, a comment about the price, etc. as opposed to a "buying" PM, hence PM with intent (to buy) Just remember, better to send the PM (assuming you intend buying) first, then post in the thread just to avoid getting gazumped. griffon22 44 Posted June 19, 2015 I sometimes use it , as an additional way to draw the attention of the seller if i am pressed for time and seriousely interested in a purchase , some of us (myself included) often do not notice we have a PM and forget to periodically check anyway . if its late and i intend to go offline soon , I use that statement to increase my chance of "drawing" the Sellers attention. i do not allway use it tho, may be "PM'ed" If I want to add a question , "PM'ed with intent, If i have left a PM with the intention of a purchase , and once (only once) i used "PM'ed with "extreme prejudice" that was my impatient way of saying " where the fook are you , i am waiting here" but in a nice way (you understand) conclusion , of course its nessessary.
