Binky_Barnes 0 Posted July 19, 2015 Hi peeps , I was wondering if you can polish a gold coloured watch as my watch is losing its colour? Share this post Link to post
RichardMiami 4 Posted July 19, 2015 I believe you mean re-plate and not polish - polishing would only remove more of the gold plate when what you want to do is restore it. Search a bit, but what I think you will find is that it is more trouble and more expense to replate the thing than it might be to replace it with a new watch. Share this post Link to post
greg_r 81 Posted July 19, 2015 There are companies that will re-plate watch cases. The trick is finding one that is relatively inexpensive and local to you. Ultimately it depends on how good the watch is as to whether it's going to be worth it. Share this post Link to post
Mattcrx 8 Posted September 7, 2015 But no, do not polish it. You will polish away the gold plating. Share this post Link to post
narikaa 129 Posted September 8, 2015 Depends what the problem is If as above its steel showing thru Gold Plate its live with it/bin it/replate it If its 'Tarnished' (more often with some 'pink' golds) yes it can be polished - out here in China/Thailand etc theres a white powder specifically for it Share this post Link to post
