gherrmann19 0 Posted August 14, 2015 Hello all! I purchased a new GMT II 2386-2 a few months ago. I wore it a few days and say it in the case to wear some others. Came back to it, wound it up, went to adjust the date and time and the stem pulled right out. I let the watch sit, contact Kat and sent it off to be repaired. Kat took and look it at, worked on the keyless, installed another part that failed and sent it back. I get it back, go to adjust the date and time, being extra careful, and the stem pulls right back. My issue isn't with Kat, my issue is the movement. Is it worth sending it back to have it overhauled and serviced and fixed, or just purchase a brand new movement to swap in there? Let me know your thoughts.
GenTLe 1,510 Posted August 15, 2015 If the problem is only that, then no sense to replace it. 2 only pieces are responsible for stem retain: the stem itself and a small bit in the keyless. Just replace both and it will be ok... ...unless for some reason the hole between the main plate and the wind bridge is larger than normal and causes the stem not to stay in position. In that case better a new movement I believe.
