Foxindebox 468 Posted September 8, 2015 Well after selling off about two thirds of my rep collection, I finally had enough money to buy one of my grails. I was sad to part with some of the watches, but lately I have been buying gens (mainly Seiko's and a Magrette which is due here on Sunday) and I have realised that if you choose wisely, you can have a lot of watch for your money ie my SARB033 and Blue Sumo. I've just ordered a Grand Seiko SBGX063 Quartz from Higuchi and can't wait to get it here and on my wrist! It was very reasonable at £1056 + about £200 VAT when it lands. I have looked at the AD's in the UK and the retail is £2000, so I think I got a great deal. I have never really been a lover of Quartz watches, but a Grand Seiko isn't just any old Quartz watch... I would like to get an Automatic and maybe also a Spring Drive, at some point but there is something about the Quartz version and the quality and craftsmanship that goes into it that I wanted to experience for myself. I will do the obligatory unboxing and review when it arrives. For now... Sayonara

insert-here 0 Posted September 8, 2015 Is selling off your collection like owning a boat? They say the happiest days of ownership are the day you buy, and the the day you sell.
Daywatch 4 Posted September 8, 2015 Looking forwards to pics and Your thoughts on it. Everything the GS is just with another movement. And it´s not just a quartz. "The Grand Seiko 9F family of quartz movements is arguably the most sophisticated quartz movement ever made". It ticks, but it seems to tick differently and more precisely than other quartz. Would like to see this "life".

trailboss99 996 Posted September 9, 2015 GS rate up there with Longines as the best value luxury watches money can buy. Both brands prove you do not need to charge silly money to have a quality product.

Foxindebox 468 Posted September 9, 2015 Thanks everyone Is selling off your collection like owning a boat? They say the happiest days of ownership are the day you buy, and the the day you sell. In the case of the watches I sold, I think this applies. They were all box queens and were hardly used. I got the buzz of buying and wearing for the first time but there was no attachment. I've kept about six reps that are not going anywhere yet... But that may change depending on what my next watch is (won't be for a while though).
TheSav 2 Posted September 9, 2015 I'm sure the sell off will be worth it once it arrives. Looking forward to seeing pics of it.
Foxindebox 468 Posted September 9, 2015 I have just found this article about the 9F movement. The attention to detail explained and demonstrated were why I decided I had to try a GS Quartz. http://www.watchesbysjx.com/2013/05/in-depth-seiko-9f-quartz-movements.html
