My New Baby Grand Seiko - SARB035! - PIC HEAVY! + Review

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Thought I show you my latest purchase - the Grand-esque Seiko Sarb035.

I have been lusting after this watch for some time after watching countless videos on youtube and seeing the pictures that people have this watch already posted in the Seiko Section.

This is my second Seiko, I use to have a Seiko Kinetic many moons ago. This particular model is exclusive to Japan Only so I sourced it from Ebay and avoided the import tax at the same time as the seller said it would be dispatched from UK warehouses. It took over a week to arrive but I didn't get stung so I definitely can't complain.

Called the Japanese Datejust by some, this watch borrows a lot of design similarities from the Grand Seiko at a fraction of the price. The quality of the finishing, case detail, finish on the seconds hand, details on the markers and bracelet elevate this above the cheaper Seiko's that are a dime an dozen found in Elisabeth Duke and the like. The colour of the watch has this nice off white appearance which predicatively changes different shades when looked head on and such and in the light. It was a toss up between this one and the SARB033 which is the black variant.

Powered by Seiko's cal. 6R20 - this movement is described as an workhorse and accurate.

The watch is a modest 36-37mm size but kinda wears like a 40mm, great for people with tiny wrist like me.

I have no intention of ever wearing it on the bracelet so changed it to an Hirsh Duke Alligator Strap for an affordable nice appealing dress watch. It even has some lume :)

Bang for buck, I don't think you can beat this.

Enjoy the pictures and some next to my Gen Daytona.

Yeah always my intention to wear it on the leather. Just gives it a different dimension and I think the watch appears smaller on the bracelet.

Awesome!

P.S. I also love how people are calling lower priced white Seiko's "baby grand Seiko" heh :giggle: .

Beautiful watch dude.

Powered by Seiko's cal. 6R20 - this movement is described as an workhorse and accurate.

Looking at your photos it would seem you have the lower beat 6R15 movement (21,600 vph) fitted. Better power reserve than the 6R20 though (50 hrs vs 45 hrs).

Haha yeah I know. Tbh I heard it has been referred to a baby grand Seiko a lot on the web hence me mentioning it here. Not fortunate enough to join the GS Snowflake club yet!

Absolutely superb! If these were a few mm larger I'd have one.

What size (measurements) is the Hirsch strap? Might have to pick one up for my SARB, small wrists here too.
