Robin195959 2 Posted December 7, 2015 Hi guys, I know a few of you share my interest in Russain watches, most notably our dear friend Klink. Any way here's one I've been waiting a while to get one that's not been redialled or frankened. It's a signal alarm by Poljot, first made in 1959, with unusual serpent hand for the alarm setting. These are easy to get with new Chinese (believe it or not) dials or frankened with wrong hands, crowns etc. I believe this one to be sound but would welcome any comments. vito1 0 Posted December 7, 2015 Robin, Do you know who can service those old Poljot/Luch watches? Vito
Robin195959 2 Posted December 7, 2015 Hi Vito, They are very basic, so any local watch smith or indeed Uk watch repairs our trusted dealer here.

vito1 0 Posted December 9, 2015 Thank you, Robin.I have a soft spot for Poljot/Luch Deluxe. I wish they were using better cases. Vito Hi again Vito, I have two Poljot deluxe, one with second hand missing. Classic dress watch for no money. Do you have any to post a pic? Robin, I am an "old idiot" who cannot take pictures with his cellphone. This is probably why I love those ultra-thin "DeLuxes". The movement(s) are the marvels of "old school engineering", they are the rivals of outragiously expensive jaeger le-coultre's movements. The main reason I join this and other forums was to find a good oyster case to re-case those watches. I am buying old seamasters and modern rep or vintage oyster cases in attempt to save those movements. Vito

I was not sure that it would flight here as he suggested. That's what I told him. I was wrong. Vito

Klink 0 Posted December 13, 2015 :help3: could use some flippers about now, doing semester finals this week. I too love the ultra-thins, lot of exquisite work, along with horological history. In general I am enamoured with the Russian efforts, especially of soviet era. Here is an interesting quote about Vostok Amphibias.. I particularly like the part about using the design of case and crystal to enhance depth ability. (from http://www.realworldgear.net/watches .html ) 'Scuba Dude' Amphibians have acquired something of a cult following, thanks to the design's solid construction, unique features, quirky nature and affordable pricing. The crystal and case utilize depth pressure to compress and enhance the case seal. Field maintenance is supported by the two piece case back, which permits the reuse of the original O-ring; impossible with western designs. Stainless steel construction resists salt water corrosion if washed after use. The domed acrylic crystal flexes for shock resistance; even sapphire and mineral crystals acquire scratches over time but acrylics can be polished up. Well, hack, back to swotting for the exams, Take Care, Klink Life is Good!

vito1 0 Posted December 31, 2015 Those "Amphibians" are much better than the old brass-cased Komandirskie. I still love my old "tank commander". Vito

Interesting thread on Watchuseek: Thread: Why do you like Russian watches? Affordable, the mechanical movement is very reliable and the diversity of dials makes them very collectible.
