Rolex Yachtmaster - Mini Review & Photoshoot!

Hey Gang

I've been dabbling with some Rollies recently to see if I might like one. This could be it. :D

I always thought they were a bit small and ubiquitous, but my current taste is around the 39-42mm mark since I bought the GS. This, at 40mm, fits the bill perfectly. I've always been a sucker for a blue dial and this delivers in spades. Amazeballs!

This is the JF Asian clone version, the best currently available. Fuck all that Rollie clone movement shite for another 50 bucks. This is a proper rep; great dial that bursts into life with a bit of light, super smooth sweep of the red seconds (every watch should have red seconds IMHO), really good bracelet that took seconds to whip out a couple of links. Fits perfectly. Excellent lume, by the way . . .

Crown, rehaut, and bezel are really good to my untrained Rollie eye. Nicely etched crown at 6.

It's not perfect compared to the gen, but I'm not a nitpicker when it comes to reps. I can't be bothered with 'tells', I wear them for what they are.

Very impressed. With thanks to Toro, a perfect transaction; 10 days from email to wrist.

Great pics as always, the red against the blue does work very well - I really like the YM but have never actually owned one...

I'll call first refusal if you decide it's not for you! (But I hope you enjoy it lots in the meantime!)

Could any "rollie-specialists" tell if there is any signs of a rep? I don't, think it looks stunning!

Being a push over for a blue dial myself would make this an easy choice for me as well. Looks fantastic!

Here we are again...

This time you made me to change my mind: I was trying to get a spare black dial to convert my TF 15400 from silver to black, then I have seen your pictures and I thought that the 15400 in the end is wonderful in silver, while I have my grey dial YM that I use very rarely because, even if the JF grey dial is very well made, the overall result is a bit "dull" compared to the blue one which I'd surely use more...

So poor TD now is getting an email where I ask if he would be so kind (since he still haven't received the payment, so probably he didn't get the TF dial yet) to accept my mind-change...

Shame on you Gaz ;) ;)

I took Gazz's pic and put it next to some guy's gen for sale....

Hell if I can tell a difference from here.

Fantastic photographs as always Gaz. Images that make you want the watch. I would agree with your sentiments about watches and what's important. I'm a sucker, too, for a blue dial although my current line up doesn't really bear that out.

Another great set from the King of the buttons. :)

This should be in the Noob handbook

Damn you! I've been tempted on more than a few occasions to pull the trigger, but I've exercised restraint. You're not helping with this post, ya bugger. ;)

Awesome Gazza. Thanks for the pictures. My cousin tried on the gen and says the blue really pops so this looks really nice indeed.
