My Panerai Welded Lug

Recommended Posts

edwinowl

Guys thought id share a few pics of this as I have a little time this weekend

There is a little mystery surrounding the WL but basically the 2533 and 3646 evolved using the wire lugs welded to the case.

This became one of the weak areas of this dive watch along with the waterproofing of the crown and the radium

It was identified that the lugs needed to be modified into solid ones.

This then evolved into the 6152 after modification and became the original prototype.

Initially the lugs were welded on, these lugs ruined the look of the watch along with the sandblasting of the case.

The crown was modified and so on...

The history of Panerai is fascinating and there are many references to access including ALE's on here

Here's a few pics of mine.

The case is made by Esdee and I believe there will be no more available (wont go into that)

I used the beautiful Hamilton 917 movement purely for looks I suppose but she has a good reserve too

Dial was a Ross dial and painted/resin filled by the master that is Irate03

As you can see the lugs clearly welded, great job by Esdee, sandblasted case and natural patina developing

Thanks bro, was a long time in the build phase waiting for parts, dials and hands. Totally worth it.

I know these vintage Pams aren't everyone's taste but I love them.

Super build mate :D finished off nicely with the Ref-T, those straps will be a thing of myth and legend soon enough.

Yeah, don't know what happened to him. It compliments the watch perfectly.

Cheers bro.

Do you have by any chance photos of case prior to welding?

Lugs orgin? Diy made?

It came from here--

I'm guessing after the fiasco, it's unlikely there'll be any more from this guy.
