FreezerBurn 0 Posted February 14, 2011 Still working on my photography skills, just wanted to post a sample shot for criticism. Maybe help point out anything I might be doing wrong. Maybe better ways to position the watch or better use of lighting. this was actually my second try for this shot. Watch from Mary
Aren 27 Posted February 14, 2011 It looks pretty amazing, but I am surprised that it has not been automatically re-sized.
Baldrick 1 Posted February 14, 2011 Yes, you're doing it right 1. filling the frame. 2. good exposure levels. 3. good DOF. Only criticism would be that I think the 'gold' tones of the basketwork overwhelm the gold tones of the watch, I'd prolly try a slightly more obtuse angle and a background that has sympathetic tones to the gold case, not too much gold, but warm colours and highlights, other than that, superb shot, keep up the good work soldier Some samples of work from TTK that I think highlight my points, gold tone watches and sympathetic backdrops. Aren 27 Posted February 14, 2011 I love the photos...but... What is DOF? I should probably just enjoy the photos and not ask! Is it Depth of Field?

greg_r 81 Posted February 14, 2011 Photo looks damned good but PLEASE, people, keep them to a sensible size. 950pix is about maximum width that the board can reasonably handle. I turned off the auto-resize feature as it was a bit too effective - I don't want to turn it back on again, but I may have to if people keep posting these unfeasibly large images. Slim 0 Posted February 14, 2011 Is the Ingenieur with the brown dial a rep? Very nice. I want one.
NFleischer 4,355 Posted February 14, 2011 Those Ingys are awesome reps. I like the Tonneau ones too- I have a Jacques LeMans just like it.

Aren 27 Posted February 15, 2011 I love the photos...but... What is DOF? I should probably just enjoy the photos and not ask! Is it Depth of Field? BINGO!!!! Google is your friend Aren, me too Actually, I guessed :P
Baldrick 1 Posted February 16, 2011 I believe you Aren, when you don't know the acronym, DOF, there couldn't be a more natural conclusion than Depth Of Field :yoda:
Goon 0 Posted February 16, 2011 Esquittite! Like someone said, the gold kind of battles with the watch rather than compliments it.
