tesmith2112 0 Posted July 22, 2016 How do I get this small black cap off without damaging the stem? I'm assuming it's screwed on, but I'm having a hard time getting a good grip to unscrew it and I'm not sure how to secure the stem without damaging it. NCRich 13,818 Posted July 22, 2016 You are supposed to use a pin vise to hold the other end add then screw the plastic thing off. I don't have a pin vise so I've used some tiny needle nose pliers to hold the flat part of the stem whilst screwing the cap off.

jakethemouse 0 Posted July 25, 2016 I manage to get it off but how do you measure where to cut the stem so you can screw in the crown? Is there a tutorial or techniques any uses? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
JSJ 0 Posted July 25, 2016 I've never had to do this so I'm posting here to watch the answers and learn too.
BadPickle 2,802 Posted July 25, 2016 This is the only way to cut your stem to the correct length http://www.homageforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=24126

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk I am afraid "trial and error" method is the only safe way: cut a bit and try, cut some more..some more. Be careful not to remove too much or the stem will be too short. Yeah but it's free, and takes you 2 mins.
jakethemouse 0 Posted July 25, 2016 Thanks I'll let you know how I go. Knowing me I better get some spare stems before I attempt this. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
