AP ROO Rubens Barrichello RG

Recommended Posts

greg_r

I've been wanting another AP ever since I sold my last one. I'm rather nervous of the secs@12 models, however, so decided to go for quartz.

I like pretty well all of the ROO range, but my all-time favourite is the Reubens Barichello model - and having seen Silverspeed's A7750 version in rose gold I knew I had to go the whole 'dodgy car dealer' route ;) and do the RG thing too.

I picked this up for $128.

The watch came on a surprisingly nice leather strap with the usual AP deployant. The AP deployants are usually an instrument of torture, but I'm finding this one remarkably easy to get along with - maybe due to the much better than average quality rep strap.

Finish is generally outstanding. I'm seriously impressed with the general quality of this thing - if it wasn't for that tiny ticking seconds hand at 6, you'd think it was the 7750 version - this feels like a much more expensive watch. Amazing how good these budget quartz reps are getting these days...

I think this is definitely going to be a keeper. Now, does anybody want to buy a nice old Jag....?

Enough drivel - here's the pics.

Love the red dial version too, Luth. Was kinda torn between that and black.

The strap on mine is good and long, though - you'd have no problems with it - I suspect it'd fit even a 9" wrist without problems.

You have to be kidding. Hublot are just badly designed AP wannabes... Fugly things. The AP, on the other hand, is gorgeous :P

Hmm - the only place I know are APbands, but they're kinda expensive. Maybe Mary could get you the band that came with my watch? It's surprisingly nice quality...

Tried APbands, they don't have XL size with red stitching.

Will ask Mary.

Great choice Greg....the RP AP is one of my favourite reps.....Hang on, yours in the Rubens Barrichello....mine is the Montoya, it took me almost 10min

to see that...

Apparently the straps on these AP's are much better than they used to be, mine is very comfortable too, no need to replace the rep strap

unlike the older Safari version I had

btw.....how much do you want for the Jag :P

The strap on this is seriously nice quality. As you say, no need to change it at all. My last one had a fairly low-quality strap. Man, I love this watch ;)

And yeah, I had to go back and look at yours before I realised that yours was the Montoya. confusion reigns!

I already sold the Jag btw :D

I love those things, but if it doesn't fit Luthier it definitely won't fit me. Beautiful watches.

This one would fit Luthier easily - the strap is one of the longest I've ever had.
