KeNnY 29 Posted March 6, 2011 STEP 2: Removing scratches from polished and brushed sides, sealing HE escape valve After disassembling the watch, we can easily remove small minor scratches from polished sides and also clean the bracelet. We will also seal the HE escape valve, because on the REP it doesn’t work how it should be, and it is only potential water leakage risk. And now I will write all necessary tools for the STEP 2: - Few finger condoms - Good lighting conditions - Wooden toothpick - Cotton cloths - Cape Cod Cloth - Branch of nail fillers from your Girlfriend/Sister/Mom/Shop - Dust blower / Aired Can - Marine Epoxy - two component adhesive glue - Piece of paper This mod is rather easy, and needs time ! So it is great to do it before bed time, and leave it for the night and day alone. So first we will remove the nasty scratches from the polished sides of the DSSD with Cape Cod cloth. You will rub the polished side with the cape cod for around 30-45 minutes. Just sit behind TV and rub it. More you rub it, more scratches will disappear ! As you can see, I have also managed to almost remove the big scratch. I am very happy with the results. DO this also with bracelet. After that we can continue to brushed sides with fillets. Always go from the big grainy to small grainy fillet, and always brush it to one side ! Now lets get that “hole†glued. Prepare your stuff. Firstly, blow out all dust are residue we don’t want to glue (like hair etc.). Then apply small drops of both components of Marine Epoxy on the paper (scale 1:1), and mix them with toothpick into gray formula. After that apply the gray mixture into the HE escape valve of DSSD with an toothpick. Don’t worry, it will set up after 50 minutes, and it will need at least 24 hours to dry out. Now leave it for a day, to dry out, and take a beer for good work done after 1-2 hours of playing with the scratches and sealing the HE valve of your DSSD Next step will be putting back the crystal and reluming the dial with hands.
