pollux1 3 Posted March 13, 2011 I recall reading that an auto movement wound at least once a month circulates the lubricants and reduces wear over time and of course if you hand wind it removes the stress on the hand wind mechanism particularly for the A7750 which can slip etc. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Ska 11 Posted March 13, 2011 The same is true of a winder, aside from convenience having the watch in constant motion performs 2 important functions. 1. It constantly displaces the lubricant evenly distributing it around all points of movement. If a watch is left in one position for more than a few weeks, the oil can pool leaving some high-stress areas under lubricated. On reps this is even more important. 2. Constant rotation of a timepiece averages out the effects of gravity on the escapement so in theory it should make the watch more accurate. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
