Gear slop or par for the course with A7750?

Recommended Posts

I was setting the time on my new PAM 253 from TimesShop after I had worn my DSSD all weekend and while setting the second and minute hands to the USNO master clock, I noticed something strange. After I push the crown back, the second hands immediate started but the minute hand would regularly take 20-40 seconds before it started to move.

Immediately thinking it was gear slop, I moved the minute hand forward to the next mark on the dial and secured the crown. Again, 20+ seconds went before the minute hand started to move.

I then tested in reverse, moving the hand forward two minutes, then slowly backwards to the previous minute mark. When I pushed in the crown, this time the minute hand immediately started to move as one would expect.

I did this a few times and it is very repeatable.

Is this a problem worth returning the watch for? Or is this something addressable by having this 7750 serviced by my local watchsmith? Or is this just an issue with Asian 7750s in general?

It's normal on a 7750.
