gB. 0 Posted March 28, 2011 Can anyone tell by looking at this movement if it's really a Swiss Unitas 6497? Thoughts?
NFleischer 4,355 Posted March 28, 2011 I'm far from an expert, but just looking at the finish on those gears and lack of swan neck, I'd tend to say no.
alw 0 Posted March 28, 2011 But surely it´s genuine Panerai because it says so?
Cynikal.Mindset 1 Posted March 28, 2011 Swiss, unless the rep boys have replicated the gen incabloc
greg_r 83 Posted March 28, 2011 Swiss. The lack of bevelling to the gears and the incabloc are the giveaway (note that not all Swiss 6497s have the swan neck regulator). Of course, there are asian parts in this movement too - most notably the bridges - so none of the so-called 'swiss' 6497s found in PAM reps are 100% swiss. For what it's worth, I used to have that exact watch - check that King has sent you the right photos as I believe that version was discontinued a year or two back. Great case and dial if it IS the same one, though.
prestigewatchco 2 Posted March 28, 2011 Actually there are no Swiss with swan neck they all use Asian parts only people who make a Swiss with swan neck are Sopod . This looks swiss but without better pictures hard to be 100% sure they made this old style movement in both .
KBH 7 Posted March 28, 2011 Here's a supposed gen: With beveling on the gears. But that could be done by Panerai.
NFleischer 4,355 Posted March 28, 2011 Oppps- sorry guess I was wrong. I have a hard time telling the 'tells', I have Asians that have flat gears (and like KBH showed, gens with beveled gears); also the shock systems look very similiar to the incabloc- to these middle age eyes anyway.
