Craig_ed 0 Posted July 16, 2017 Hello All, I'd like to first say.... That i never knew a watch could be so complicated and that i have learned a great deal over the last 3 weeks. In fact I am now confident, that i had to go ahead and order 2 watches from a TD. This is where the questions come in; 1) Quality Control pictures are fantastic and a real asset to the seller/buyer. However, i noticed the beat rate was that of a 21'600 7750 ETA which from searching/reading that it may be the "Dan Dong 7750"?? It was advertised at high beat 28'800. Now whats my move here? I have contacted the TD and he said it's the best rate. I have print screened a picture with a web shot and also the Calibration QC pic and forwarded this on. The question is: Am i being had here or am i factually incorrect? If i'm allowed to link to sites, i will do in a reply or via PM. 2) What they hell does the calibration QC mean to me. This is a very difficult search on the forum as i can't find the right keywords to obtain the information. TIA Craig
onionbag 1 Posted July 16, 2017 Hi Craig, welcome. There are hi and lo beat Asian 7750 movements. You should clarify with your dealer exactly what you have ordered.
RepGuy 108 Posted July 16, 2017 Well you were right to contact the TD. If the listing is advertised as the hi beat version, and the QC pics show it is low beat, you have two options: 1. Accept the watch as-is 2. Politely ask the TD to get you the hi beat version that was advertised (and you paid for). The purpose of QC pictures is for imperfections and other issues such as this. It would be acceptable to refuse the watch and request a refund if what you've said is true and the TD won't supply you with the hi beat model.
rawbaws 91 Posted July 17, 2017 What's the watch out of interest. I'd be more concerned about the movement being five years old or so.. They still making low beat 7750s?
onionbag 1 Posted July 17, 2017 We all here know and understand the pitfalls.........well mostly and most of us. :) Ask your dealer to confirm the movement before shipping. That's simple enough, eh?
Craig_ed 0 Posted July 17, 2017 Thanks all for the replies. The watch http://www.ttw-1388.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=41_210&products_id=15100 @Onionbag - I have defiantly ordered the High beat model mate @RepGuy - Thanks for the firther clarification. Wasn't sure if this was good grounds to qualify to contest the QC. @Rawbaws - As above and my lack of experience at current couldn't answer this. My better judgement would say it's old or a mistake or possibley a shift of the old stock movements. @Onionbag - Just done so mate. He said that he will check and make sure he shows the 28800bph. I'd like to add, the TD has been polite and responds well. The other watch i have had QC'd is gorgeous and that is a true reflection of the initial advert. Can't wait to sport this http://www.ttw-1388.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=41_210&products_id=12378 Cheers and i'll update as and when.
karnoculars 0 Posted July 18, 2017 Also new to this site. As I'm reading through this post, I had a general question. If I wanted to order from a TD such as Trusty Time, is it wrong to simply order straight from the website? Should I always be emailing the TD first with my exact requests, or is it OK to simply buy "off the shelf"?
Craig_ed 0 Posted July 18, 2017 Also new to this site. As I'm reading through this post, I had a general question. If I wanted to order from a TD such as Trusty Time, is it wrong to simply order straight from the website? Should I always be emailing the TD first with my exact requests, or is it OK to simply buy "off the shelf"? I simply followed best practice from the experience on this forum. In that, i contacted the dealer to say i'm intrested in such and such. At this time i should have asked if they were in stock, to which i overlooked because i was taken in by the beauty of a particular watch. I added them to the basket and paid via PP. received 2 emails which were computer generated and then 2 days later received the QC's. You can push your luck for a different strap etc, but be prepared to be told 'no' as they are as the pictures represent them a generic stock thats cloned. Most TD's use the same makers anyhow so similar in combinations of colours etc. Good luck
Genius 281 Posted July 18, 2017 Also new to this site. As I'm reading through this post, I had a general question. If I wanted to order from a TD such as Trusty Time, is it wrong to simply order straight from the website? Should I always be emailing the TD first with my exact requests, or is it OK to simply buy "off the shelf"? I generally email first but some just go website route... Some dealers will do a discount for WU or BT payment and as they cant take it over the website email is obvious way of doing business
Craig_ed 0 Posted July 18, 2017 Right team, This guy is just not listening to me. I need an admin to fire him a message or offer advice. I have expressed to see a new version of the watch and he is just replying with it's going to the courier etc. Completely brushing it off. I'm really not comfortable with his approach of not following up my dispute. I have even typed a message and then translated it to Chinese simplified. The watch is for my dads birthday and ultimately it's just not going to happen if he isn't going to listen. Help!
pthurst 1 Posted July 18, 2017 Welcome to the forum. You will enjoy your time here - the folks are very helpful. All the best Paul
OLDBLOKE74 6,815 Posted July 18, 2017 Different TD next time .... These guys are not exactly patient or customer focussed The dealers are working on the edge and there is an element of gamble and risk with every transaction. 80% of my purchases have been fine - the others less than fine Once you have approved QC you have the hurdles of postage, tracking, customs, lubrication, sizing - Enjoy the journey into rep-land, great fun but not a smooth ride! Craig_ed 0 Posted July 18, 2017 @ Paul - Thanks a lot matey. I can feel a big collection accruing over the next few years. @ Oldbloke74 - Yes i believe this may have to be the case. I really thought they'd be customer focused since it was alluded to in the TD portion of the forum. I'm looking forward to the roller coaster i'm about to board, but before it's even left the gate? On another note, the Chinese translation might have had a positive impact as they replied back pretty quick and outside their normal hours. Fingers Crossed. I'll also be doing a TD review as these can ultimately help the community and a showcase of the beautiful TAG Carrera 1887 in Black \Craig
