Balad1 0 Posted April 14, 2011 I post this to try and help out other RWG member so they can learn by my mistake. As many of you know I ordered 11 reps (reasonable priced) from one of our trusted dealers I paid to have the them shipped in 3 parcels via EMS. One parcel with 3 reps cleared LA customs but two parcels with 4 reps each hit Honolulu customs at the same time and were seized yesterday. Lesson learned; in the future I don't think I will order more than 2, max three reps at one time. This is my first seizure and an expensive lesson. Shit happens, I'll reorder and come up with a better plan of attack this time, lol. PS: Anyone else have constructive advice or information to add for our members? Drhulee 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Sorry to hear about that .... so what are Honolulu customs agents sporting on their wrists now ? When I first started this hobby, I remember reading a few posts about not ordering more than 2 - 3 at a time. So I'd say keeping it to 2 at a time is a good idea. Drhulee 0 Posted April 14, 2011 You may also want to start shipping to an alternate address (p,o, box maybe?), as your address may now be flagged for importing contraband.
Luthier 1 Posted April 14, 2011 Balad, how do you know it was seized? You got a call or a letter from Honolulu Custom? And... what is your dealer's policy on seized watches? Sorry for your loss, I'd cry all day long...

Sorry for your loss, I'd cry all day long... Received a letter today; I noticed on tracking the packages were stalled. I bought at the reseller price so it's my loss. I wanted to post this so someone who might not be able to afford the loss could learn.

RS9 1 Posted April 14, 2011 I actually feel horrible right now :'( Well, could be worse I guess; they could have taken the third.
Balad1 0 Posted April 14, 2011 I actually feel horrible right now :'( Well, could be worse I guess; they could have taken the third. You're right, plus I have an inbound Oris 51mm ProDiver that cleared LA customs yesterday. Soooo, I guess I'm batting 500.
Rav747 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Sorry to hear that, Ted, I was really looking fwd to the pics and reviews. They need to tighten enforcement on narcotics, not watches!
Balad1 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Sorry to hear that, Ted, I was really looking fwd to the pics and reviews. They need to tighten enforcement on narcotics, not watches! Thanks Bro, If I had to guess 4 reps in a parcel was pushing it and 2 parcels hitting on the same day was doomed to fail.
Balad1 0 Posted April 14, 2011 I'd like to add so there is no misunderstanding, that I knew the risks and assumed the responsibility. The dealer in no way is at fault. As I mentioned before, Shit Happens.
Legger 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Sorry to hear that man. As someone else mentioned, I would change address and possibly get items delivered to your work instead. I'd still have a word with Robert as he is a decent bloke and may offer you something.
Balad1 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Sorry to hear that man. As someone else mentioned, I would change address and possibly get items delivered to your work instead. I'd still have a word with Robert as he is a decent bloke and may offer you something. Robert just PM'd me after reading this thread and said he has had some parcels successfully returned from Hawaii so all might not be lost. I read and agreed to his reseller's terms so I assume all responsibily. It's all good, no worries. PS: On a positive note I won't have to explain to the bride now about 8 new watches, lol. jrodshibuya 0 Posted April 14, 2011 Sorry for the loss I wonder why more watches makes a difference, it's not as if the packaging is very large, and you did split it up into several different orders. Does 4 watches arouse suspicions but 3 is fine? Hard to know where the limit should be.
KeNnY 29 Posted April 14, 2011 I am waiting who will write here "YOU NOOB, why you send so many watches 2-3 parcels" I am sorry Balad, I hope that it will get returned to Robert... Ah stupid customs, bureaucracy system..... ahhhhh damn I am pissed about this what happened to you Balad. I am trying also not to get caught by customs, so I trying to reroute all my packages trough UK.

Balad1 0 Posted April 14, 2011 sorry to hear Balad I actually thought when you first posted that 11 was a bit insane! That's me Bro, plus the price was right, lol.
greg_r 83 Posted April 14, 2011 Oh damn. That really sucks... Personally, I never order more than two at a time just to be safe. If there's several I want, I tend to spread 'em out over a period of a few weeks.
stolikat 1 Posted April 14, 2011 Dude this sucks. I try never to order so many watches at once. It is the weight and the multiple pieces of dense metal that gets their attention. Bum deal dude.

Balad1 0 Posted April 14, 2011 I am sorry Balad, I hope that it will get returned to Robert... Haaa?????? Yeah, rrrighttt... LMAO, you're right Luthier. If I was a young customs guy in Honolulu I'd be trading reps for Poontang...
Member X 91 Posted April 14, 2011 That's a harsh call I know robert did say that he was splitting up and spacing but it might have been that the post office at his end held back and did a big shipment of stuff from a couple of days, which could have meant yours were both in the pile.... As above, I'd look into alternative addresses!
Del 4,518 Posted April 14, 2011 Aw man, that's a total bummer Sorry to hear this. Hope they somehow get returned to Robert and you get them eventually.
gtwc 1 Posted April 14, 2011 That sucks. Very sorry to hear about your loss. Hmmmm, thinks .........could there be a market for a 'Sorry to hear about your loss' condolence card for members who have watches seized by over officious beaureaucratic bastards?
