GingerApple 7,285 Posted February 11, 2018 Good luck repping this one China!!! I think even with caseback shaving, the mods would struggle to get this close to gen. 2mm!!!!! https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/piaget-altiplano-ultimate-concept-introducing Share this post Link to post
mysterio 18 Posted February 11, 2018 That's such a crazy achievement. But I would probably just get it as a curiousity rather than something to wear even if China had managed to rep it. Share this post Link to post

Not even Piaget sell it, it's purely a concept (for now). Very clever though. Share this post Link to post
mysterio 18 Posted February 11, 2018 (edited) Definitely some revolutionary ideas like using the caseback as the baseplate of the movement. How do you take off the caseback in that watch though, the stem is still attached to it (or maybe it's a front loaded mechanism with the stem release screw in front)? That's another thing to consider when making such designs. Edited February 11, 2018 by mysterio Share this post Link to post

That's another thing to consider when making such designs. It was certainly revolutionary thinking 30 years ago by Swatch who basically did the same thing with their plastic quartz watches. And then again with their system 51, which also utilizes the case as part of the movement plate. Share this post Link to post
VMSG 2 Posted June 10, 2018 I know this is an old thread, but just saw the hands-on photos and it is amazing! Definitely will buy a rep of that! Share this post Link to post
