taylorwinn16 0 Posted April 20, 2011 My dad got a PP gold watch after having served as the general counsel to APRO for 30 years. http://www.thewatchery.com/Patek_Philippe/...1&mpn=5119J For that price range, 15K-18K, I can think of a lot of other watches I would rather have, even though I do really like his and will gladly inherit it someday. For that price range, what you buy if you had to spend it on a watch? my pick http://www.thewatchery.com/Breguet/watch/5...n=5207BA/12/9V6
greg_r 83 Posted April 20, 2011 Oh I dunno. The Patek is probably one of the best watches around in that range. If I could spend a couple of thousand more, though, I'd be buying a Lange

At the same time the PP looks a lot better in reality than in any photograph. In photos they look plainish, in reality they look ultra classy IMHO.

Frankt8242 1 Posted April 20, 2011 You should pick up one of these:http://www.1-pc8838.com/pp02002-3919-calatstrava-white-manual-handwind-p-3089.html For $100.00, and nonchalantly drop it overboard where he can see it happening....You'll probably get the real one real soon after..... I actually did that once to my old boss @ 30 years ago with a cheapo Rolex "Prez" rep Scared the bezeezus out of him...almost got fired!! LOL
edwelly 0 Posted April 20, 2011 The only problem I see w/ the watch is the seconds are at 6 :(
E-Dub 0 Posted April 20, 2011 I have to tend to agree with the OP that this particular Patek isn't much on wow or design. It is elegant, and classic, sure. But there isn't much about the case, dial, etc that even seems luxurious or looks hand crafted, intricate, etc. For $18K, I'll take the rep and a case of Ch.Petrus or Screaming Eagle as a retirement gift. crossbones 0 Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) NICE! Be sure to tell him.... "You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation." Edited April 20, 2011 by crossbones
jdoe 0 Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) Thinking of joining the APRO myself. Sure should provide for some interesting watches. Nice PP, personally I'd gone Breget Edited April 20, 2011 by jdoe
