NEW ARRIVAL: Rolex 1675 GMT Master

Recommended Posts

FoxWilde

Just came to my doorstep today is my beloved 1675 GMT!

The parts sourced include a Cartel 1675 case, Yuki dial/hands, gen-spec springbars, Gen Tudor crown. Powered by a serviced A2836-2 movement.

First thing I'd like to say is wow.... I love it.

It all started when a mate of mine at my local Rolex AD told me he had a gen GMT 1675 in stock. Pre-owned, and ready for a new home. Sadly, I didn't have the funds to take it home, but I did have a chance to wear the thing, and I immediately fell in love with it. I had to get a rep of this.

The watch is slightly thinner than the other Rolexes in my collection. The red/blue bezel really pops more than I thought it would, despite being faded. It turnes bi-directional smoothly, just like my 5513 rep.

The dial has a gorgeous vintage look and sings vintage. The yuki dial is very crisp and great quality.  The lume is very dim in the daylight, I hope to update this post with some lume shots in the future. All in all, I'm not bothered by the lume. After all, what's 40 year old Tritium lume supposed to glow like anyway? I'd say a yuki dial is a great upgrade for modding any cartel model.

The hands also came in from Yuki, lumed to match the dial. They go together quite nice, don't they?

I love the matte look of the dial, something I miss on the modern Rolex prof models.

Here's a happy shot of the open 6 on the datewheel. Alignment is good enough for me.

Here's a shot of the gen Tudor crown I bought off one of my local watchsmiths. I like it and I won't consider getting a Rolex crown on it until perhaps down the road with it. It's quite small, both on here and the gen. It's a little trickier adjusting than the fatter crowns on other Rolex models, but I like its reduced presence. The case itself has a few marks on it but I believe anything made to look vintage should have some "battle scars" on it. That ways it looks like it's been through some stories. It is a tool watch, after all. The crystal also wits quite nice and I'll maybe consider upgrading it in the future, but we'll have to see how fat my wallet is then.

Here are some good ol' wristies for you folks on RWG. 40mm watch looks nice on my baby wrists.

Here's the bloke next to my 5513. Two classics in my book.

Hope you've enjoyed this little pictorial review. Cheers!

Lovely, but why the Tudor crown?

If anything, it appears a tad recessed.

Beautiful nonetheless.

It was a sporadic decision but my friend had an old gen Tudor crown in great condition and I figured it’s fine. Plus I think it makes the piece pretty unique.

Both fantastic watches. Love the Vintage Rolex watches, real understated class. Go well with the straps you have picked too.

+1, the strap does not add to this otherwise great GMT

Agreed. Just ordered a nice handmade leather strap for it that I’m super excited to see it on. Will keep it updated! @0ysterboy

Looks great, mate! I think I am right in saying that the earlier 1675s and 16750s had a slightly larger bezel than the later 16710s. Does the Cartel case provide the larger bezel too? I can't really tell -- even with your sub pairing photo! Either way, it looks great. Im with the others on the crown, though. I'd like to put a Rolex one on to finish it off.

Not sure about the bezel measurements, I'd have to get back to you on this one. That and the Rolex crown are two mods that'll be next in line as soon as I get the funds. Currently those funds are in a 6263 mod at this moment.

Here’s a unnecessarily blurry shot of it next to my newest addition, the Noob superclone 4130 Daytona Ceramic:

Yeah! Please do -- I'd like to know. I am thinking of having one built myself.

Ha! I get that -- good luck with that build too!

Do you know if the yuki dial and hands fit the asian clone? I was looking for a replacement dial for my Perfect Clones that hs just arrived bit the Yuki dials say they are just for gen movements.
