If they are to short/long ... Modded hands - red varnish and lumed part left "white" Modded hands - lume removed and everything with a red colored new lume
Logixa 8 Posted October 16, 2018 First picture with partial red and Lume intact looks better than the full red
Chixisigma 461 Posted October 16, 2018 The Photoshop idea was excellent! Whoever thought of that Cxs

The nail varnish is about the same thickness as a smooth lume mix so when softly applied from the underside of the hands it should react the same and wont go through the holes. If the varnish is not thick enough you can put a small amount in a plastic bottle cap, let it cure for some time and use it when the thickness is OK for the purpose. Or you can use clear acrylic varnish and red dry pigments so you can get exactly yhe thickness you want ... just like with lume.
late 0 Posted October 16, 2018 you could split the difference and go with a really warm yellow, like a cadmium.
manodeoro 19 Posted October 16, 2018 That could be nice too.
blueoysterboy 17 Posted October 16, 2018 I’m really thinking about wider hands, but I like the idea of red or crimsonSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
manodeoro 19 Posted October 16, 2018 Sourcing spare hands could be uneasy ... if I'm true the Seiko V175 movement requires a 1.10 hour hand and a 0,65 minute hand. What do you think about painting the hands in a matte dark red, almost brown, and letting the hole and the lume untouched ? I'll try to photoshop it when I have some spare time. You're back painting because it's through cutouts rather than on the surface of the hands.

As long as you're playing around with Photoshop, how would it look if you did the 12, 3, 6 & 9 indices in red too? As long as it's going to be a bespoke piece.... manodeoro 19 Posted October 17, 2018 @bdnica unless the indices have a little recess on the upper flat part (some have) it will be really difficult to get a crispy result ... much more difficult the varnish on the underside of the hands. Nevertheless ... My knowledge and experience actually doing anything like this is ZERO! I'm sure you're correct. But it does look kind of cool... especially the 12 marker just above the red bit in the logo.
