Fiddy 6497 repair for trksh-bzr

Recommended Posts

Wiz

trksh-bzr sent me his fiddy for repair, so I took a few pics in the process :beer2:

Just after making sure there was no force on the mainspring, I started the disassembly by removing the hour wheel and cannon pinion.

I forgot to take pics of these first steps, so the first pic shows the movement with the balance wheel assembly out.

Then I removed the pallet bridge and pallet fork.

Crown wheel, ratchet wheel, click and click spring out.

Bridges out.

Center wheel and barrel out.

Took the decond wheel, third wheel and escape wheel out.

Here is the broken escape wheel, the reason why the movement wasn't working properly.

Keyless work out.

Lovely pictures mate and great work !

I don't know why but the balance wheel and the escape wheel are the favourite parts of a movement :beer2::picard:

Nice work. Where did you source the high-beat ETA parts?

From CousinsUK, some of the parts for the 6497-2 are available there.

I can't see what's wrong with tue escape wheel on the iPhone, what is actually wrong with it?

Does it have a broken tip on the top?

How do you flatten and polish your CPs? :D

This is not a difficult job, it only takes a little time :)

I've tried it a few times. The first few went great, but then I came across what, I suppose, was a cheap Asian H3 CP. When I started to file the top of it flat, it revealed a dark inner core that I never managed to get polished up :ttiwwop:
