Ska 11 Posted May 16, 2011 Here's the final design for the watch. I've changed a few bits, made it easier to machine and modded it to take some stock parts like the caseback bolts and crown/tube which are a swiss part from Cousins. List of improvements: 1. Lugs slightly reshaped for a more aggressive profile. Somewhere between JLC Master Compressor and the SOH. 2. Main Gasket channel changed to caseback rather than case to allow for higher crown/tube position. 3. Case modified to take standard swiss waterproof crown and pendant tube. 4. Internal cavity and movement ring modified to take Seagull ST-18. 5. Seagull ST-18 modelled to check for fit. 6. Added display-back feature to highlight engraved rotor. 7. Case-Back text and company name changed. 8. Date-window position modified to fit movement 9. movement holder re-sized for better seal. 10. Rehaut deepened to allow for thicker crystal. 11. Crystal swapped for dome with bevel-edge like DSSD. I'm hoping to have two prototypes of this baby made by around November. I'm toolpathing the whole thing myself to keep costs down and its a CAM program I'm not too familiar with so its gonna take time. Luckily the engineering firm I use for Sabre is only 150 yards from the back of my workshop! I've decided to go with SS rather than Ti for the case mainly because I don't like watches to be too light. A bit of weight lets you know its there!! Once the prototypes are finished I'm going to be offering these for sale on the forum (at least thats the plan) and maybe even to a wider audience. My idea is that for every one sold, I'll donate 2 years worth of VIP upgrade to the board on their behalf. At least one is also going to be raffled for the forum's benefit. Anyway, On to the pics. I'm sure I don't need to mention it but all these designs are Copyright Christian Howes 2011.

What are the dimensions? EDIT: I can see some of the members at MWRFORUM.NET really getting into something like this.
powderfreak 0 Posted May 16, 2011 Man, that's gonna be a great watch! Congrats and have good luck with the production of the first prototypes. BTW, do you have any idea on how much this will cost you or how much the watch(es) on sale will be priced? Less than 1000 USD, more, ...?
MikeMcNair 0 Posted May 16, 2011 Love it, as long as it's 43mm and above! How's the lume? Also, the anniversary is a nice touch :P
Ska 11 Posted May 16, 2011 Hells yeah mate, I'll keep everyone informed have no fear.
kan3 0 Posted May 16, 2011 +1 if it's larger than 43mm. Also it would be great if the dial can be customized (custom logo).
Ska 11 Posted May 16, 2011 its 43mm so pretty standard pilot watch size. I'm not a fan of many watches with larger diameters tbh, as it unbalances the design and makes the lugs look too close together. Custom dials would be cool, and if I can find a way to offer them realistically then I'd love to. However at least for now, I think its gonna be a case of what you see is what you get. Mainly because getting these things made in small quantities is NOT cheap.
schmooze 0 Posted May 16, 2011 That's a nice looking watch! Well done. Imagine the birth of a heavy weight brand showcased first on a replica watch forum. Ironic to say the least. I just heard the replica will be available in August. I'll wait for the Gen. :gday_mate_haveabeer:

Del 4,518 Posted May 16, 2011 Fantastic project Ska, and a very impressive looking design! I think it's incredible that an individual can produce something like this and I can't wait to see your prototype later this year.

Silverspeed 10 Posted May 16, 2011 Make 1 in rosegold and it's sold
MikeMcNair 0 Posted May 16, 2011 I am thankful you chose SS as I too like the extra weight. What are the lug dimensions? Could a sterile DSSD bracelet fit it? I think that would. Be a nice touch. Pm sent
David543 0 Posted May 16, 2011 Love the clean lines. You are very talented Chris, wish I had some of your ability. If you can pull off the purity and detail in the finish I would be very interested. I'm a perfectionist and admire specialist manufacturers, (VC, Greubel Forsey, G Daniels etc) I would be VERY Interested. Rose Gold would absolutely do it for me too. 43mm, perfect. Yeh, what Kenny said too! :P
amuthon 0 Posted May 16, 2011 Very nice project ska, I like the harmonious "Flieger" design. I can imagine, that a small edition is hard to realize at low costs. Keep us informed, I'm curious for the progress.
