l47340 0 Posted May 17, 2011 The title says it all... Despite having been a member on this site for awhile now I am still fairly new to the rep game/hobby/obsession. Thus far I only have one watch, a Breitling Navitimer. Now I have moved on to drooling over a Rolex GMT Master II. So, the question I pose to the esteemed members of RWG is this: What GMT Master should I get? My first choice would be a model with the ceramic bezel, however my budget is <$120, ergo the movement will have to be, shall we say, less than topnotch. So, what type of situation am I looking at if I go for a cheap-o movement with the GMT function? Thanks in advance for the advice!!

l47340 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Sage advice... but the watch-lust is eating me alive! Then again, I would rather go to a high-end watch than end up regretting something that only lasts a few months.

The movement is more reliable, and everything is just as nice as the higher end versions. Should be able to find in your budget.
seclark007 11 Posted May 17, 2011 Right, I have to agree somewhat with my distinguished collegue from Sydney...save some more dough so that you can get a better watch. That said, I bought a GMT IIc from Replica Make with a 21J movement that is one of my best. As far as cheap movements get, for a GMT, you're not going to get much cheaper than what Lay will have to provide for you. there's the advice....do with it what you will. dkj1956 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Hello! I am in the same boat - looking for a good quality rep GMT and after a few hours on this website find myself thoroughly confused! Most likely because I haven't figured how best to get around on this site. Wondering however, if there has been a similar thread to this question and a general consensus or favourite choice for the lower end rep GMTs that are out there? Thanks DJ
l47340 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Thanks guys, My concern was that a 21J would be noticeably worse than a mid-level watch. However, if it looks like the reliability is comparable, my wallet will soon be sobbing once again!
Dragonscape 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Sage advice... but the watch-lust is eating me alive! I know your pain....Therefore go the short route Silix 21j to get through the thirst then save for the Smoooth 28,8 movement

dkj1956 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Thank you, Del, this is the help I'm looking for. There are quite a few suppliers out there who have watches of similar description in the $99 - $350 price range. With exception of the asian or swiss movements, they often seem much the same. I appreciate the recommendation, I've checked the link and saved it for futher reference. l47340 0 Posted May 17, 2011 That 2836 clone is just... gorgeous. Looks I'll be saving up the nickels and dimes to make up the difference. I suppose I would rather delay the satisfaction and get something that is of higher quality. Thanks again for the advice.
