rotorheadcase 0 Posted July 4, 2019 (edited) G'day all, Brand new to the forum but have been a long time watch collector. I'm fortunate enough to have gen Panerai PAM49, Omega Speedie Pro, Heuer Monaco Reissue and an M. Glashutte SAR . I 've never considered a rep before as my only exposure to them was the street hawkers peddling crappy copies in Dubai...until I saw a mates high end Rolex Sub rep and I was staggered by the quality. So diving in the deep end I picked up a Rolex Sea Dweller from the good people at Puretime. Again, simply stunning quality. I'm hoping to pick up few others soon. Amazing depth of knowledge here and I will likely be taking full advantage of your experience when purchasing. I use http://postimages.org/ easy peasy Welcome to the forum Thanks Thommo, Yes a quick scan through the forum shows a lot of Aussies. here. From the number of your posts you've been doing this a long time. Know of any "in country" sellers or is there an Oz sub group? Obviously I'm keen to get in to the M2M section but also it would be a lot easier dealing with postage inside Oz only. Will start posting up pics of my watches soon. RussP 22,658 Posted July 4, 2019 Welcome Neil Who let you in? I was obviously misinformed that the quota of Australian members had been met... They must've kicked a couple of them out.....
ShovelnTC 31 Posted July 4, 2019 You mean to say that this isn't an Aussie forum, Welcome from another Gold Coaster.

Neil I’ve been here a few years I guess, not as long as the old farts @brang1 and @RussP though. Keep posting and commenting and the M2M section will become available. Or you can also become VIP/Supporter, which doesn’t cost too much and will fast track the process and open up the rest of the forum. @brang1 sells a lot, I sell the odd watch, as do other Aussies. There is a wealth of knowledge to be had here, not just about reps, but watches in general.

I'm chasing a Panerai 682 42mm Sunbersible, all the 47mm models are waay to big for my dainty 7" wrists.

All the TD’s here are good, they wouldn’t be a TD otherwise, but if you want my advice, check out @Mary Watch. I’ve always had great service through her/him??? My trusted watchman has retired from the game and moved to NSW. He visits Brissy now and then, but won't work on reps. Sorry to disappoint you Neil. 9 hours ago, brang1 said: got a few nice watches about to get the chop too You're going to give us locals first dibs, yeah? It may be 42mm in diameter but it is 16.5mm high and quite chunky - i.e. perhaps not great for dainty wrists. A simpler submersible like a 1024 would be more wearable. Also , 682 has a see through caseback even though the gen is a solid caseback. Would piss me off , don't know how anal you are.

I wear a gen PAM049 which is a 40mm case and 15.5mm high without any problem. Anything up to 44mm is fine on my wrist but I can't see myself going to a 47mm case though. Yes the 682 display caseback is somewhat problematic, though the initial run of gen 682s came with the display caseback and then switched to a solid caseback in 2016 I think. Glashutte SAR sits in my locker at work but I'll post a pic next time I'm on duty. This is the lovely DSSD 2017 that is my first rep.
