Two successful pressure tests today!

Recommended Posts

Del

I'm just back from town and got my yellow Seawolf and recently re-lumed (by Ska) GMTIIc pressured tested at 5 ATM (good enough for swimming) and they both passed no problems!

I'm delighted as both will probably now go on holiday with me this summer - ideal for wearing in and out of the pool. ;)

Good work mate. Your Seawolf looks lovely. Could be the perfect summer watch along with my new Ploprof. By the way, the Ploprof will be ok for your puny wrist as it is fine for me. I tried it on mesh but actually prefer the orange rubber!!

Quite a collection you are building sir!

Thanks Ska - I was chuffed to bits. Looks like your "happy ending" did the trick on the GMTIIc! :vomit:

Good news there Del and well done to Ska.

Nice to know that you can get caught in a rain storm and not worry that your pride and joy is going to mist up and stop.

Great!

No surprice for the Seawolf, Joshua even says "Waterproof to 1000m" guess it was a "0" to much there but anyway...

Great job from Ska!

@ digger2 - yes, I was fully expecting the Seawolf to pass but you never really know and I wanted to be on the safe side. I also only needed both watches to pass at 5 ATM for swimming on holiday and such like - I don't dive or do any crazy watersports! :D

As for the GMTIIc - that was a real bonus! (Thanks again to Ska for sealing that baby up nice and tight!)

Both watches got tested for 10 quid in total and were ready in less than an hour - I think I've found a handy wee shop! ;)

The "In-Time" watch repair desk in Debenhams in the St Enoch Centre. I even told the guy they were reps but he was still happy enough to take them. :D

Here's a link to the website....clicky

Del can you tell me if getting the watches tested can be done in most high streets? or is it a specialist operation? Jim

Hi Jim, I'm not entirely sure. I previously called a couple of ADs for a battery change and watch re-seal on my gen Tag Aquaracer and they both wanted to send my watch away for weeks! I guess from that they couldn't perform the re-seal and test on site. If there is one of these "In Time" franchises near you then that might be a better bet.

Allright, congrats :)

I don't really expect to have these two watches in water much but I specifically wanted the Seawolf tested for going on holiday, and the GMTIIc was an afterthought because Ska greased the seals after the re-lume. It's good to know that I've got two reps that will withstand being out in the rain! :)

Nice one Del and thanks for the link, I have never heard of the franchise. The watch servicers I know don't pressure test and I don't want to send my watches off to to the other side of the world, well Essex, for weeks either!

No mystery - if theyve got the machine they can do the test - Cost: about fifteen pumps of the lever

If they havent got the machine they will talk of weeks of sending away etc

(the machine tho a little heavy aint expensive to buy)

Del,

Great to know, I figured the Seawolf would pass. You didn't by any chance test your Submariner from TS did you? I just got mine today and my oh my, that is one of the best rep's for the price I've ever seen. I absolutely love it, I'm sure it'll withstand the shower & pool but I've actually had my DSSD down past 50' and my pro Hunter to 15'-20' with no problems. Now I'll know I can take my Seawolf diving too. I wish I knew where in the US I could get my reps tested.

Cheers,

Peter

No Peter, I didn't get the Sub tested. The only reason I tried the GMTIIc was because Ska greased the seals after the re-lume so I thought it was worth a shot!

The thing is, each watch should be tested just to be sure - you could be unlucky and get one with the crystal not quite pressed fully or sealed whereas the next one of the same model is ok. There was no way I was risking the Seawolf going into the swimming pool without testing it first - that could've ended up being an expensive swim! :(
