k4jun 251 Posted March 21, 2020 Have a look at this one. Looks like a decent PO crystal with nice blue AR coating look closer as see how rubbish the coatings are.. I've read about the people who use the polywatch or cape code to remove the coating manually. Do you understand it? MANUALLY with their hands.. like animals That won't be a case here. Dremel, felt polishing tips and 0.5 micron diamond paste are on their way! It is working, but still some AR is sneaking out This is because of the polishing tip. We need a fine rounded tip to access the domed surface. Once you did everything, crystal is milky.. this awkward moment - have I scratched it all over with the diamond paste?!? No! Crystal is just dirty, diamond paste is oily and it makes smudges everywhere. For sure there are pro compounds to clean it but I do not have any. Mrs.k4 has a nail polish cleaner and this does the job Give it a good cleaning and here it comes, your new crystal. Everything takes about 10min.
GingerApple 7,306 Posted March 21, 2020 Ooh, good stuff! I've got a watch with a tiny blob of missing AR and it drives me crazy when the light catches it right and displays it's flaws for the world to see! Great little tutorial!

Dr Fun Socks 76 Posted March 21, 2020 Would it not be best to use a different polishing compound that diamond? What with diamond being one of the only things on the planet that can mark sapphire? I know its come out great and i will be doing the same to a crystal soon, more curiosity. That and i have many polishing compounds but none are 0.5 micron diamond! They do work but are rather slow. 0.5 micron diamond is what my watchmaker uses.
