Baldrick 1 Posted June 3, 2011 I have a genuine 'vintage' Panerai pearwood box ( from my first gen Tuxedo dial GMT in late '97 ), virtually the same as this one on t'Bay, what perchance should I consider asking for it, it has some slight nicks etc but in good condition all round, has outer box and insert with dust cover, but no screwdriver.....this one on Ebay gives me pause for thought GENUINE PANERAI PEARWOOD BOX

solkryssare 109 Posted June 3, 2011 No no. 4,001. The buyer will feel he is better than that loser who bought the ebay one I have no clue tbh. Sorry
sconehead 5 Posted June 3, 2011 ...put a reserve on it for £2300 and let 'em bid away... ...then buy an affordable gen with the proceeds...

Baldrick 1 Posted June 3, 2011 Seriously guys, I have no idea what this 'may' be worth, I sold the GMT way back around 98 / 99, the buyer didn't want to pay shipping for the box, just the watch and papers, ( I bet he's sorry now ), this was long before any kind of Panerai mania had set in, so the box just lay around all these years, the screwdriver disappeared thru' some sort of Stargate or something
ebzen02 341 Posted June 3, 2011 I will over bid Akira by $10..

pfcdre 0 Posted June 3, 2011 Anyone who pays 2,450 quid for an empty Panarai box should have absolutely no need to be on this forum, Pear, oak or bloody pine, it could be made from the wood of christs crusifiction cross, i couldnt bring my self to pay it. You can get a nice gen new or second hand for that, then spend 100 quid on a nice watch box.
Baldrick 1 Posted June 3, 2011 Yeah, but mine has been steeped in A1 brown sauce and vintagised
pfcdre 0 Posted June 3, 2011 Its only worth as much as the demand there is for it, realistically stick a reserve of what you would be prepared to sell it for and see how the bidding goes, as for the one on ebay i think the seller is fishing to see if some collector comes along with more money than sense and needs that box, keep an eye on the listing mate if it sells get yours on quick lol, my gut feeling is it wont, but yer never know
pfcdre 0 Posted June 3, 2011 Yeah, but mine has been steeped in A1 brown sauce and vintagised good luck with it Baldy "Blessed be the pear box of Antioch" it would be like winning a lottery scratch card to find out what your watch was wrapped in is worth 2.5k lol

andygt 0 Posted June 3, 2011 Good you have the outer box too, Baldrick. That bit of cardboard is apparently, strange as it seems, highly sought after by collectors/mentalists. A pre V box sold with the outer box for over $2.5k recently: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=147573 Wouldnt have thought the one you have is as rare but bet you're glad the buyer was too stingy to pay that postage... Baldrick 1 Posted June 3, 2011 TBH, I was looking for something in the region of £100+, but I might just stick it on t'Bay and see what 'appnens! @andy....nowt strange as folks is there funnily, it's never happened to me though. That's cos you're a fud :P
SeanusMaximus 0 Posted June 3, 2011 Some crazy f**ker will buy it...there is always demand. From my background in Architecture and furniture design (albeit in its infancy) it would cost f**k all to knock something like that up, pearwood isnt even rare...your plan sounds he best though, plop it on ebay with a few hundred £££ reserve maybe and just see...that or contact local auction houses or Panerai/watch specialist auctions and see if any interest is raised....
