New Arrival - IWC Spitfire 377721 "Le Petit Prince"

Recommended Posts

MAJ75

Hi All,

I decided to make a rare foray back into the world of reps and made a TD purchase through Mary (feedback elsewhere, but awesome service) for the limited edition IWC reference 377721 Spitfire "Le Petit Prince".

Coincidentally as per my "Jackie Chan" this piece was also made in a run of 250 pieces only back in 2017. I'm delighted that the factories chose to replicate both of these pieces based on their low original production runs.

After seeing Hugh Laurie sporting a rose gold Spitfire in "The Night Manager" (his was the standard grey faced version) I planned on adding one to my collection, my attention turned to this as I didn't have a blue dial in my collection & I prefer the numerals of the LPP edition.

As the community will know ZF Factory are prolific in replicating the IWC catalogue & have done a good job on this one. At 43mm the watch head is heavy & relatively thick which gives it good wrist presence but for my own wrist it is unlikely that I would go bigger.

The finishing is fine (if a little grubby on the back of the case, damned macro shots), the dial is beautiful & hard to capture the colour & sunburst effect in photos adequately.

Negative things are probably tiny misalignment of days & dates, but the gen photos seem to show striking similarities & I guess the strap could be less squeaky. The aesthetic of the strap is actually pretty good but I will ultimately replace it.

Below please see some technical data on the genuine article & some genuine photos mixed with some I have taken of the ZF rendition.

Wow. I was paging thru the first few photos thinking, ok, when is he going to post his own photos, I thought they were stock photos. Superb photography on this. And lovely watch. Rose gold makes this, imo.

Beautiful watch @MAJ75.  Before my rep hiatus I was seriously considering this very model as I love IWC pilot watches and fancied a little gold in my collection. Your review with the usual excellent photography has made me add this to my comeback list..... So, erm, thanks, I think?

(PS a brown croc Santoni or Orloff strap on that would take it to another level)

Yeah I'm gonna change it up mate, trying to avoid the rivet style straps as I don't like that look...the OEM might be the way to go, but £185.....ouch......

Cheers Del, it was your photoshoots & Gazzla's that inspired me to document each arrival.......
