FunnyStarSystem 7,538 Posted December 10, 2020 Seems like maybe a bad long term investment, millennials will soon rule the world and they neither know or care who Paul was. Plus with all their fitbits and smart watches..... And then there's gen y, who leaned sex from pornhub. We're doomed! What were we talking about again?
trailboss99 994 Posted December 10, 2020 That will go for way more than a million. I would normally never consider buying something at a premium becuase of who owned it but in this case I'd make an exception. I'd need to be Elon Musk rich tho because I'd wanna wear it not lock it in a vault.
Flinnt 2,009 Posted December 11, 2020 There’s also the chance to hang out with Jackie Stewart at the Monaco GP going on the block. https://www.phillips.com/detail/NY080120/64/ Not to mention an albino Speedie.
Edeeot 159 Posted December 11, 2020 I'll pick this watch up at the auction, then run over and get in my Bullet Mustang...
Cap'n 930 Posted December 11, 2020 Same auction has one of the Monaco’s used during the filming of Le Mans (funnily enough I have a vested interest in Monaco’s!) https://www.phillips.com/detail/heuer/NY080120/20/
BravoDelta 22,447 Posted December 11, 2020 For a watch that sold for a couple hundred bucks in the 1960s.

In 20 years time: ”Fitbit up for auction. Previously worn my Instagram Influencer “XXXCharleee_324”” Doesnt really have the same impact does it?!

It’s taken this long to make up the story for this “other” one, proper fake patina and photoshopping family pics take time you know, plus putting together such a long winded article so that nobody will actually read is doesn’t just happen overnight. my guess is it started on homage forum, perezcope will be all over midlandsmark about this one, civic8234 will get accused when it’s not his fault and pics will be posted of his family..... and don’t even get me started on Elias who didn’t even make the buckle *names have been changed to protect the innocent (except for Mark the robbing bandit)
deju 1,873 Posted December 11, 2020 Funny you should say that @pickledbeetroot but reading it, a part of me is like why would you sell it. I can understand the first one as it left the family. But surely this is a major family airloom ?

I have a VC that was my Dad's - I don't like the watch and will never wear it, but I keep it cos it was my Dad's and it's one of my memories of him - mind you nobody is offering me £1m+ for it either! Not sure if I had the family wealth they have I'd even sell it then, unless I'd blown all of Daddy's inheritance and really needed some more!
Flinnt 2,009 Posted December 11, 2020 Yeah if I was his child I’d be wearing it...and spending the inheritance on security guards to prevent getting mugged. If the inheritance runs dry the watch is my retirement fund.
deju 1,873 Posted December 11, 2020 I’m with you @Flinnt I doubt the family are kardashian Rich but I’m sure they are comfortable within their means. 43 minutes ago, Flinnt said: Yeah if I was his child I’d be wearing it...and spending the inheritance on security guards to prevent getting mugged. Stealing the actual Newman watch in black market would not get a good return, it’s too hot. Everyone would know what it is and it would need to be a box queen.

Simonix 8,660 Posted December 13, 2020 So, the auction went through. it’s sold for $5.5 million!!
deju 1,873 Posted December 13, 2020 It doesn’t enjoy the historical value of being a missing piece. crazy to think that level of provenance can be worth £12m+ more.

Flinnt 2,009 Posted December 13, 2020 The Omega Seamaster ST 165.024 estimated at $30k-$60k got $260k! And people say should’ve bought rolex for the resale value...ha. Suckers paid $70.5k for a 1680. My NCRich one from Intresting was only 400ish Aussie pesos. My Albino Speedie went for $40k+, if it had gone for the estimate I’d be kicking myself for not buying it. And Jackie Stewart wasn’t feeling the love, coming in under the low estimate.
