Mbari 2,227 Posted February 28, 2021 As the bug continues, I finally finished the build, this time, Omega Ranchero from the 50s. I wish the TDs sold this or I could find more dials, especially the sub second version. I have a pristine cal 30t2 that's begging for that. Anyway, I digress. Here are specs and pics. Summary: This simple watch was one tough build, testing the limits of my noob skills. Tiger concept 1016P Case set with domed plexi and drilled lugs: Aged and softened. A great base to build several iconic watches. Dial: Vietnam: Distinctively aged to make the watch look like its from the 1950s. Dial had to be carefully shaved to fit the case. Phewwwwww Hands: Ebay: Broached/aged/lumed. The centerpiece IMO is the flaked off lume in the minute hand. 2 sets of hands were used to achieve the final look. Second hand had to be trimmed to fit the case as well. Movement: DG2813: I find that Esslinger ones are more reliable, could be just luck for me. This one runs like a champ Strap: Ebay:The vintage Navy Strap really completes the look of the watch. I might get a beads of rice soon.
