Mbari 2,227 Posted March 18, 2021 Case shaping is by far my most favorite activity but I don't have a lathe yet. However aging the dial, insert and hands is so tantalizing, I can't stop thinking about the possibilities. Let's not get started with lume, which is totally another pandora's box So I decided to take a plunge. I could have ordered 5 jkfs for 700 bucks bit it would be the same dials. Also my friends outside the rep community has been wanting me to do mods. Figured id give them something or just protect my money, in case it turns out good, sell it in ebay or something. So what's different this time? 1. Using rust to age hands and dial 2. Using a torch and stove top to age insert 3. Using a toaster oven to age the lume and dial 4. Using a tin can with drill bits to age the case Test subjects: Seikos and Tiger concept. 4 done and I to go Now some of you have already been doing these, but it's new to me. What worked well: 1. The seiko black insert turned an amazing shade of brown/purple2. Rusted hands in the snowflake 3. Using rust to add texture to dials 4: Tiger gilt lume What could be better: Lume plots, it's consistency. Mbari 2,227 Posted March 19, 2021 Thanks Rich. Speaking of one offs, here is an interesting one. 5514 case aka jkf 1665 case, shaved down A LOT. I think my fingers have biceps now. 1665 comex dial5514 crystal 1680 bezel. Eta2846Why the franken squared? Love me a fat case 1665, but it's too fat compared to GMTs, for my skinny wrist. This to me, is a perfect balance. P.s. the darn datewheel popped out, so off we go again to surgery. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk

Looks great, just never thought how to put one on a different case.
